Timeline?
Closer. Of course, I know that that's their word, not yours. But I also know that, for the life of them, they can't figure out why people don't trust them.

Evidently, the governor of Minnesota's presser was, "it's far too late to meaningfully flatten the curve. The best we can do now is move it to the right, to buy time to build hospital and supply capacity."

This borders on too political, but this guy nails the voice, tone, pace and mannerisms.

Gee, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to, like a month ago, tell this guy it's cool to use the powers of his office for electoral gain.

I guess Americans do not deserve, are not worthy of, the truth.

just about 350,000 tests as of yesterday...about 1 per 1,000

South Korea is currently, or has been, testing 1 per 170

The lying is whatever, par for the course.

The infuriating part is the change in narrative.

Agreed. His tone has changed so much it's giving everyone whiplash. Especially those who actually need to take cues from his administration.

I'd be fine with him being consistent, and saying close to the right thing in his public facing addresses, then whipping around and circle jerking with Hannity and Rush on a picture of Xi Jinping being butt fucked by Winnie the Pooh, blaming them for the virus and the economy in secret. But that's just me.

It tells me he is beginning to understand that the fallout of all of this is going to be disproportionately harshly felt among the portion of his base that never really made sense in the first place: the working poor. People who - and I am grossly generalizing, tend to be more susceptible to both the physical and financial health risks here.

Why is the Atlantic garbage?

Uhh...cuz.

Three months ago, no one knew that SARS-CoV-2 existed.

Literally 3 paragraphs later:

Despite months of advance warning as the virus spread in other countries...

perhaps he should have clarified that most of the public new nothing of it a few months ago?

and two months =\= a few

not that it matters tho, if that’s your reason for thinking it’s garbage

There are plenty of reasons it's garbage. That's just one example up front.

It IS archetypal, though -- and not just there but here as well. None of this is about anything other than constructing the narrative.

No.

If you can't tell the difference between a grammatical error and a counterfactual claim intended to elicit a specific response from a reader, then I can't do much about it.

That IS content. And it's intentionally misleading.
