Let’s have a war!
Re: Let’s have a war!
but what if Qusdahl says "America bad" precisely because of the invasions?
Re: Let’s have a war!
Shoot, pretty sure PoliticoEurope got hacked by the Kremlin too
Re: Let’s have a war!
Ohhhh!
Qusdahl likes missing the point. That means the opportunity for new perspectives.
So what IS the point? Would you kindly identify, or does Qusdahl have to ask CoyDC again?

Re: Let’s have a war!
Are we so full of hubris that one of our administrators decided to look under a lamppost for keys we lost on a ski slope because that’s where the it was lit? Are we not able to criticize ourselves for invading the wrong country (Iraq instead of Saudi Arabia, who really had more culpability for 9/11)?

What? No, you're missing the point too.zsn wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 1:05 amAre we so full of hubris that one of our administrators decided to look under a lamppost for keys we lost on a ski slope because that’s where the it was lit? Yes, American invasions were bad. But far lefties, like Qus, instead of being for the defense of Ukraine, are instead, during this war, just blaming it on the US, because their takeaway was US bad, not invasions bad.
Re: Let’s have a war!
Yes, I did indeed miss some parts of the discussion and the context. I was just talking about the US invasion(s) in isolation.
Blaming US or Ukraine for the current situation that Ukraine is facing is basically surrendering to the Putin propaganda machine. I think splitting the West is really the motivation behind Ukraine invasion

Re: Let’s have a war!
soooo
Invasions = bad
American invasions = bad
America = not bad
that's quite the logic!
but please, keep doubling down about how it must be everyone else who is missing the point.

Re: Let’s have a war!
everytime this thread is bumped I keep waiting for the big reveal that this has just been a ruse....a long play for Q to show his troll mastery.
Just Ledoux it
Re: Let’s have a war!
is one even allowed to consider maybe there's blame to go around?zsn wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 9:08 am Yes, I did indeed miss some parts of the discussion and the context. I was just talking about the US invasion(s) in isolation.

we've been up to some shady shit in Ukraine (among other places) for years. I just don't think that whatever we've been up to in Ukraine since at least 2014 can be so quickly dismissed. How do we so confidently shrug all that off as NOT contributing factors at all to the situation at hand today?
Cuuuuuz...here's the thing!
Like you asked rhetorically, we are like so totally NOT willing, nor able, to criticize ourselves when it comes to war and foreign policy and imperial meddling. Any attempt criticize America's actions is rabidly put down as bad guy propaganda. Honestly, I think Qusdahl's gotten as much heat as he/they has in this thread, for little more than attempting to criticize.
When Russia does it, we get so pissed off and clutch pearls and call on the entire world to retaliate; yet when we do it, the rest of the world is expected to just put up with it....let's just thank the fucking lord Russia hasn't been pumping arms and parading prominent Russian governmental figures around any of our own geographic neighbors, right? Particularly none of our own geographic neighbors who we've historically beefed with before anyway. Only Merica's allowed to do that!
Right?
And yes, I think a big motivating factor for Putin is splitting the West. But, if there is any divisiveness occurring in the West, I don't know if the blame for as much is solely and unilaterally Putin's. Again, it's a matter of whether we're willing or even able to criticize ourselves and our own gummint's actions.
Besides, I don't wanna give Putin that much credit! We've mentioned it before, but it's crazy how the rhetoric can simultaneously be "Putin's a deranged moron who doesn't know what he's doing and his entire effort is futile" and "Putin's a precisely calculated mastermind who is singlehandedly dividing the entire West"
Re: Let’s have a war!
invasions bad
American invasions bad
America good
2+2=5
who's the trolls here, again?
I've tried to avoid bumping it lately cuz I've just accepted America at large, and posters on this bored in particular, just don't have much of a taste for actually paying attention to global politics, much less gaining anything more than some childishly oversimplified good guy bad guy narratives about it.
Re: Let’s have a war!
I think this post is telling - that you say "American invasions were bad," as if they're all just some thing of the past by now, some quaint chapter in the history books; and not still very much ongoing matters with contemporaneous consequences.Mjl wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 8:33 amWhat? I guess that's how one is otherwise able to overcome the cognitive dissonance of "yea I know the US/NATO war machine totally derped us about Iraqistan, but no way those same powers would try to fool us again about Ukraine!"

Re: Let’s have a war!
Who said America = good? Yes, the fact that you injected that indicates you don't get the point. The point is that (US good or US bad), in the context of Russia invading Ukraine, isn't what matters. But you keep inserting it - which is exactly why I posted that. He's talking exactly about what you just did.
