Grocery store throws out $35,000 worth of food it says woman deliberately coughed on
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2 ... ronavirus/
The past few weeks have been tough for Gerrity’s Supermarket, a small family-owned chain in northeastern Pennsylvania. Like grocers nationwide, it has been deluged with orders and has struggled to keep basics such as chicken breasts and toilet paper on the shelves. Employees have been working overtime, pausing only for five-second breaks to wipe everything down with disinfectant wipes.
Then, on Wednesday afternoon, a woman came in and deliberately coughed all over the produce section, meat case and bakery department, co-owner Joe Fasula said. The store had to throw away more than $35,000 worth of food.
“Today was a very challenging day,” Fasula wrote in a message to shoppers on Facebook. “While there is little doubt this woman was doing it as a very twisted prank, we will not take any chances with the health and well-being of our customers."

It's bad enough how lame we look to the rest of the world, but the doctor/patient relationship is based on trust, and this is doing nothing but degrading that trust.

When billionaire Bill Ackman went on television last week to tearfully warn that “hell is coming” and beg the White House to shut down the country for 30 days, he was knee deep in a bet against the markets that netted him $2.6 billion.
In a Wednesday note to investors of his Pershing Square fund, Ackman said he cashed out of a credit hedge on Monday for a profit of $2.6 billion. The hedge, which he started building on March 3, cost him roughly $27 million and scored big as stock and debt markets floundered on fears of the coming pandemic — fears, critics say, that he helped stoke.

I think the profits he netted from that stunt would make an excellent relief fund for working class families impacted by the shutdown.DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 2:52 pmOh.

Yeah, but you have to admit, the CDC says that rapid tests for influenza are required to have 80% sensitivity, so they get a pass.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:55 pmchickens with their heads cut off...TraditionKU wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 7:48 pm where’s the CDC?

Yeah. I prolly shoulda put that at the end of your post about how great Jack Ma is for helping everyone, while we can't.Feral wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 4:04 pm

Is it the same or only test China used, or are there multiple tests manufactured in China? And was the same test(s) exported to Spain?
If my post, the video, &/or "Maddow" had been primarily about "tests", I guess you'd have a point. But, they weren't: ...infected/potential infected isolated from family members & tested; constant taking of temperatures everywhere, fever clinics, CT scans, etc.... In fact, my post was primarily about our health care system, and I never mentioned "tests".
But, strong, very strong, work.

I don’t think the virus was man-made or somehow generated for that purpose, but I do think the opportunity is being seized to do things that have been on the agenda for a long time, such as moving to digital currency, getting people used to having their movements tracked and controlled, nationalizing healthcare, and potentially introducing martial law by creating an environment for such civil unrest that the government will be “compelled” to do so. A one world government can’t come into effect until the U.S. economy is effectively collapsed. It would seem we are well on our way.
Believe it or not, I was not in favor of that at all.KU76erfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 5:35 pmYes, I'm sure you were pounding your desk in favour of civil liberties when the Patriot Act was passed.HouseDivided wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 9:04 amIt’s all fun and games until you have to check your phone to see if you are rated green so you can go to the market or if you are red and have to stay confined to your home and hope someone brings you food.
