If I could afford 2 cars, I would buy an automatic as my daily driver and a manual as my fun car (which would be a Porsche or Audi Roadster).

Probably depends on the driving you do.

A good manual, paired w/ an apt engine, can be intuitive, invisible and nuanced day-to-day and especially in inclement weather. With regard to some critical aspects of driving, you do the thinking. In a certain repect, of course.

A well thought out AT can be similarly invisible, with less concentration. And less connection. With regard to some critcal aspects of driving, it does the thinking, etc.

Auto transmissions have developed well past any perceived advantage a manual may have had since 1996.

Have they developed an auto for which I get to use both legs?

Many clients in fishing trips are surprised to notice my truck is a manual, even after driving around, cuz I’m just so smooth with it.

Particularly in the mountains, I like being able to tell my vehicle exactly which gear I want to be in.

Plus I think it’s fun.

Yeah but how do you "finger blast" if you are driving and have manual transmission?

Any reason why some people feel road head is any better than head anywhere else? I ask because I really don't. Don't get me wrong, I don't not appreciate it but it's not any more special to me than if it happens anywhere else.

Road head is better because speed bumps.

I rented 3-cylinder Geo Metro once in Huntsville, AL, once and drove it to Birmingham. Huge long hills on that interstate. Car was so bad I was laughing at it.

If I ever win the lottery, which is unlikely since I don't play, I would love to buy a Yugo. I'd get the cheapest spray paint I could find and paint orange and black stripes on it. Get a stoopid tail and hang it out the trunk and then put messourah alum stickers all over it. Maybe stick some ears in the roof. Then buy allsome seats at AFH and that would be my game day car.
