Top tax rate doesn't matter much for revenue generation.

Yeah, I was just referring to the misleading nature of "70% tax" leaving out the keyword "marginal".

ummm...it means that the people who make more than $10 million a year will pay what they believe they should and not a dime more.
This isn't complicated. If you raise the marginal rates to 70+%, the people who make that kind of money will figure out how to hide it -- legally.

That doesn't have anything to do with anything.
It's simply a historical fact that the ultra-wealthy take far greater advantage of the loopholes they can when they feel they need to.

Trump's tax cut closed a great many loopholes. And the shrieking and rending of garments was almost biblical.
Moreover, the harder the government pushes, the likelier the ultra-rich are to move their income and assets offshore.

So, if the loopholes were closed, what caused the deficit to spike? Would that be something that's expected to take a few years to pay off?

Heard on NPR this morning that the Talib expletive got roughly 5 times as much media attention as the Steve King white supremacy remarks...
