Well thank goodness some random dip shit in Southern Illinois who has never met me is so much more in tune with what I actually think and mean that he can tell me what my real motivations are...

I live in central Illinois. Dip shit.

And I didn't tell you what you think in that post, I just made a comment that you're very unaware of yourself. That's simply a fact.

Brave of you to admit that.

It's not bad.

Although to many I guess you either live in Chicago or southern Illinois . There is no in between....and "Chicago" can mean anything within a 2hr drive radius from the city.

True Southern Illinois definitely is a different planet than the likes of Peoria and Springfield etc... My mom was born in DuQuoin, Illinois down in Saline County with many other early ancestors from neighboring Hamilton, Franklin and Perry County and I've been down there once before doing some genealogy research. It's definitely "not Peoria".

Back to the bridges and highways....
those folks that hold the “slow” sign get paid a minimum of $30/hr in NY State. I don’t know who decides the prevailing wages, but any person on a crew working on highways is making at least $30/hr.

That reminds me, not having affordable healthcare unrelated to your employer is what makes seasonal jobs crappy.

Oh, and labor crews and materials aren’t always the major cost of highways and bridges. Usually it is for the engineers (and engineers who now call themselves project managers) who feed some numbers into a computer program and then stamp their libel signature to the report.

15-20% cost of construction is the normal range for design fees.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the construction project managers (part of construction and typically engineers), but described a design engineer.
