This, after extreme pressure from the teachers union worried about losing jobs after this is over from people switching to a different model. It exists everywhere, in every industry. Shuttering online learning is a more egregious error than leaving gun stores open....in my opinion.

Forget it. I don't even know why I bother to post anything. All it does is give me a temporary release for my pent up frustration. No need to involve others in it.
I need to get off this site, news sites, and all forms of social media, for what's left of my sanity. Problem is when I am basically stuck alone in isolation I feel a need for social interaction.
I guess I should realize that's why God invented telephones. That was a joke.

Probably not. The symptoms associated with withdrawal from marijuana occur in only a small minority of users, and are more along the lines of insomnia, anxiety, agitation, restlessness, etc. Symptoms that generally don't drive patients to emergency rooms, or require some type of inpatient treatment. Symptoms associated with the sudden cessation of alcohol occur in a larger minority of alcohol users and can manifest over an ~ 3 day period. Along with things like the marijuana withdrawal symptoms listed above, and others, more serious effects like grand mal seizures and DTs, (delirium tremens), can occur, both of which will result in a trip to the ER and probable admission.

You're where, Oregon? Sounds like they closed those online options to keep wealthy people from transferring their kids out of public schools and into those online charter schools so as to not decimate funding to the public school districts. Crappy move but I see the reasoning. If I was paying for that that and it got shut down, I would definitely be firing off some strongly worded emails to the administration.

Don't online charter schools have an "uneven" record of quality and an even more uneven record of accountability as states try to get money back from the corporations whose online failures are rather stunning?

As I stated, I would be unhappy enough about it if it was my child's school district that I would complain to the relevant administration loudly and vigorously. It's a dumb, seemingly unnecessary decision that I disagree with. I dont know how much more outraged I need to be about it than that.

The children are still being educated, just not to the level that they feel is possible or appropriate. And I am sure that the district can figure out a way to
distribute food to kids that count on school meals. Our district had the same issue and created a pick up zone where kids who relied on school meals could come pick up 5 days worth of food packaged and handed to them in their car.

So it doesnt seem to require a huge amount of outrage.

Our building is closed but my kids are still getting assignments and interacting with their teacher via apps and tablets. So we are getting more benefit than zero.
