No. The flu has a predictable cycle, various vaccines, most people have some level of immunity/antibodies, and it doesnt ever overwhelm the health facilities. This one is a rare, never seen strain of virus, has exploded quickly, and bodies are piling up in hotel rooms that are converted into patient rooms. This isnt the flu, and it is a pandemic.

The other major difference, in addition to the ones you point out, is the elapsed time. The comparison to flu-deaths fall apart when you look at the frequency of fatalities (per day/week/month)
