I thought of Minny over Denver, but Minneapolis is just so freaking cold and their winters are long. Their summers are perfect...

I lived in Minneapolis for about five years. The winters are fine (honestly the short days are tougher than the cold).

The key is to find a reason to like the winter. For me, it was snowmobiling. For others, it's ice fishing or cross-country skiing or hunting or any number of things. If you have a reason to look forward to winter, it's bearable, even pleasant.

Yeah I have a buddy up there and he does a lot of ATV ice racing on the lakes (both quads and trikes). It takes a lot of time to stud a tire though...lol.

Winter 2007, I was at a friend's lake house near St. Cloud, Minnesota. So, about 75 miles outside Minneapolis.

My friend and I had Sunday night football tickets, and there was a significant blizzard. Highways shut down, so on and so forth.

So what were two twenty-somethings to do? Well, run snowmobiles at 50-80mph (depending on visibility) right down I-94, all the way into downtown Minneapolis.

And we were far from the only ones. I've got a great picture of us on our snowmobiles outside the dome, with a couple hundred similarly-situated folks in the background.

Put me in the sunshine matters more than temperature club.

Hot temps are only bad when coupled with humidity.
Cold temps are bad when it's windy.

And as far as cold weather goes the worst are cloudy rainy windy days when the temp is in the mid to upper 30s. I'd rather be in a blizzard and have 0 degree temps.

Now that sounds like a blast! I totally would have done the same thing. Snowmobiles are fun, amazing how fast you can go on them.

Yes. But somewhat finicky, and it’s not hard to find yourself in a very bad spot (especially given outside conditions).

I would never, ever ride one alone outside of sight distance of other humans.
