Mathematically it doesn't matter what other players do at blackjack.
It doesn't. But, blackjack tables are not a vacuum. And, not just about mathematics.
They are precisely about mathematics unless you think the dealer/house has the game rigged.

I don't know why it is so hard to get people to understand this, but I have struggled trying to explain it to friends.

Reading helps. Blackjack the game is about math. Playing blackjack live at a table is about more than just math. Otherwise, no one would play it because it would be no fun and you'd lose. The house obviously makes rules to shift the percentages ever so slightly its way.

Playing it is fun.
When people are getting angry at you for your moves, when it truly doesn't alter their chances of winning or loosing, they ruin the fun ( also people who are legit angry with the dealer ruin the fun ).
As you said before, if you don't like how the table is playing, get up and find another one, but also, while you're getting up, think about why you are so angry that people aren't as 'pro' as you are in a game that really isn't that difficult to learn and why you are letting them, who are likely there to have a good time, bother you so much.

Playing it is about more than just math. But another player making the wrong play doesn't affect your odds. It affects the results, but not the odds those results will be good or bad.

Getting angry at other blackjack players for their moves and blaming your losses on them is the equivalent of someone sitting down at the bar while you are watching a KU game, they are friendly and talk to the bartender and the rest of the people at the bar but obviously aren't from the area/don't know much about the team, and KU starts to loose and you start talking shit at them and blaming them for the score.
You can think in your head, 'man this dude knows nothing about basketball and he just sat down and ruined our mojo', but if you're letting him know about your illogical thoughts when all he's trying to do is watch a game at a bar, you're the asshole.

That's actually probably the best I've ever seen it put.

Thanks for standing up for me guys
. I honestly don't gamble very often, but I generally know enough, and it's a game of odds.

Sit down at a table with me, shindig.
You want to hit on a 15 because you're feeling there's a 4 waiting, then go for it, i'm pulling for you.

Ha, I probably would hit on that because I normally only play the $5 or $10 tables..not a high roller.

Enough of this math gibberish, everyone knows that's just witchcraft.
Let's talk about something real and proveable, like not playing with an Asian dealer, especially a female one.
I know, I thought it was bullshit too, then I sat down at a $10 blackjack table in Reno with a hundred bucks with an Asian woman dealing cards and proceeded to loose 10 straight hands. I coulda gone to a strip club and made it rain and been entertained for longer.
