I honestly don't think they care to understand math. Maintaining a 95% approval rating of a group that is ~40% and shrinking is not good!
Of course, the problem is they have nothing to run on, except the racism, fear, tricks and bullshit that plays well with a portion of that 40%.

Because the highlights are clips and snippets that routinely take things out of context. If anything, it's helpful to take these things in in their entirety (or as much as you can), because the overwhelming pervasiveness of the lies and projection really sets in. Hard to say whether that will come from within or without the GOP.
One thing that's stunning to consider is that something like 1/3 of America believes the messages that went across last night.
