Much shorter practice. But high energy, high effort, 2 huddle system during installs and team/individual portions. One huddle is breaking as the previous play ends.
Watch film in the afternoon and then walkthrough everything with the team in the evening. Things that were not done correctly from the morning and more play installs that they will run the next morning.
If done correctly, practices of any team sport shouldn't be more than an hour and a half. Do conditioning through the drills by always keeping guys on the move.

Gildersleeve just interviewed during live portion of the camp thing that KU is doing. Mentioned some guys from the start of summer lost 20+ pounds of fat and gained almost 20 pounds of muscle mass.
That's insane in a span of about 3 months.
Don't know if that's an indictment on previous staff or a major kudos to new staff. But my goodness.

All I heard from that interview was that this coaching staff, like every other previous coaching staff loves Miles Kendrick. If that dude is starting under the lights against S. Dakota it is going to be a long, long season. Love that kid. Busts his ass. Well prepared. Teammates love him. Obviously, a Jayhawk but he aint a starting P5 QB. At this rate we might as well just add him to the coaching staff.
Speaking of QBs. I was watching the quick blib that KUSports.com had on their website. One of the last clips was of qbs throwing a sideline breaking out route from the opposite hash. Pro level throw. One that if you don't have steam on it a corner will pick six that to the house. The throws looked fine but the last guy to throw was Bean. Some guys have what we call 'live' arms. 15 and Stafford for instance. Albeit the throw was off target that ball that Bean threw jumped out of his hands and caught the WR, who I believe was Grimm completely by surprise. I mean that ball was at his face before he even broke. That is what I love to see.

Over/under rushing yards from a single KU RB: 750.
Over/under receiving yards from a single KU WR: 600.
Over/under interceptions from a single KU corner: 2.5.

1. Under - If we have one QB play every game, maybe we'll get close. But I'll say under because I think this team is going to run the ball a whole lot.
2. Over - I was inclined to say under because there are likely 3-4 RBs that are going to play quite a bit, but someone will be the #1 and pass 750.
3. Over - One main target will emerge and get there. 600 yards over 12 games is 55 per game so that's doable.
4. Under - Too much inexperience here.

1. Under - Team will have a 70/30 run/pass ratio. Won't be a ton of yards in the air.
2. Under - Pesek-Hickson, Hishaw, Neal, Gardner??, Flomo will all get run. They'll keep them fresh.
3. Under - Think WR core is too deep and there will be less than 200 ypg in the air, so slim pickings.
4. Over - Think Mayberry will get picked on a lot, and think he'll come through with a few picks.

A couple videos of post-practice comments today.
QB coach Jim Zebrowski, who is apparently permanently set at 100 mph
QB Jason Bean

Bean is taller than I thought. 6'3. A string bean at 189 though.
It's not coincidence that he is the first player we've heard from at the podium.

Zebrowski and Kotelnicki are both revved up and full of charisma and energy that is endless.

Exactly what I thought. The prevailing sense sounds like Bean will be the starter with Daniels backing him up and Kendrick essentially being a grad assistant/emergency QB.

read a far-fetched, but interesting idea this morning
ACC and Pac12 merge to form the Coastal Super Conference, resulting in only 3 total power conferences

Catching up on the interviews and comments from the practices over the weekend. One thing I noticed, OC Kotelnicki mentioned Ben Miles when talking about the TE group.

Kotelnicki is a fun guy to listen to. I think it's great when you're two main coaches on offense are both high energy and enthusiastic. Kotelnicki and Zebrowski both are exactly that. I've always said energetic guys get the most out of players. Obviously they have to be good coaches too, and I think both have proven that.
Also, seems like Gardner at RB is not necessarily away from the team for good, but he's not involved in much of what is going on and nobody outside of the program really knows why. The RB group is still deep, but that's an annoying development for sure.
Garrett Jones, 3rd string Center, is stepping away from football. He is a recruit that the previous OL coach, Meadows was high on. Mentioned in his statement that he knows this program will shock many in a few years and he hate he is not going to be a part of it. But he needed to step away.
