I would think that if Townsend were on the outs that the immediate skill to be replaced is recruiting. Dooley is more of an x's and o's/scout guy, but a bad ass assistant coach regardless.

I thought backup coach with this hire in case of suspension. Illy then gives me his ostensible title and role which of course are also going to be done.

Maybe the replacement for that is already on the staff. I have been honestly surprised how many recent recruits have mentioned their relationship with Jeremy Case as being a key portion of their decision to come to Kansas. Seems like he is really providing some value on the recruiting trail and could possibly shoulder more of the load if KT were to no longer be on the staff.

Recruiting duties are split pretty evenly, but I agree. And Dooley has certainly recruited his fair share of studs.

KT has just been around forever.

I'd be fine with that if it was 15 years and 2 more titles from now.

Hell, in 15 years Case will be too old by then. Which is partly why I try not to get too worked up over this. The number of KU alums that the posters here on several boards have said will be a Self replacement are in the double digits. Turgeon was one of them and he might be retired before Self!

Self will be 74 in 15 years. So I doubt he sticks around that long. Nor do I want a 74 year old coaching our team if we are being honest.

And I hope we win more than 2 titles in the next 15 years.
