Big Dick Energy
Re: Big Dick Energy
DH 3pt shooting % is higher than JW or KM. That's a statistical fact.
And KJ looks to be worse than everyone on the team at shooting other than maybe Bobby.

And Dick isn't a head case like Greene.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:13 am Probably, but Dick's release is quicker and he's able to create more space for himself with his feet. Greene was too easy to guard. Dick has enough talent to get up the amount of 3's guys like McLemore and Svi did.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Big Dick Energy
hopefully not a head case, and maybe even high BBIQ too.
Re: Big Dick Energy
Would you get in the door?
Yesterday you scolded randy for guessing Dick wouldn't start....and then he didn't start.
Post game you "knew" how a certain lineup would look, apparently better than Bill Self. Eye roll.
Stop acting like you're the all knowing basketball wizard.
We started DH KM JW KJ and Udeh last night. If I am ranking 3pt shooters in that lineup from best to worst I am going:
JW
DH
KM
KJ
Udeh
Instead of being rude, you could have just said "hey illy, i actually think KM is a better shooter than DH". So instead of 2nd you'd have him 3rd. That's a fair opinion, even though it's not supported by their stats.
Whether you rank DH 2nd or 3rd in that scenario is irrelevant to the point that DH as your 2nd or 3rd best shooter in a starting lineup is not a good thing.

LOL indeed.
How long after KJ is exclusively playing the 5 do we get to stop pretending he is going to play minutes at the 3?

Agree on this even though it wasn't your original post. That's why you and I are right and Bill Self is wrong.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 12:29 pmWhether you rank DH 2nd or 3rd in that scenario is irrelevant to the point that DH as your 2nd or 3rd best shooter in a starting lineup is not a good thing.
And also pretty moot b/c Big Dick Energy.

Re: Big Dick Energy
When you start the guys we did last night, JW and KJ are interchangeable at the 3-4 considering both our offense and defense sets.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 12:36 pmHow long after KJ is exclusively playing the 5 do we get to stop pretending he is going to play minutes at the 3?
But, as stated, that was a shitty lineup that we hopefully never see again. No way can you have KJ, JW and Udeh in without have BDE in.
Re: Big Dick Energy
When JW and KJ are in together JW is the 3 and KJ is the 4 imo. They are interchangeable defensively because we switch 1-4 when they are in.
KJ is a big with the mobility to defend the perimeter, but has no offensive skill set to justify pretending he is a wing.
Yes, the 2-3-4 all have similar movements on the permiter within our offensive scheme, but each player looks to do significantly different things when they catch the ball in identical places. This is why I can't consider KJ and JW interchangeable.
In my opinion we essentially started 2 bigs last night. Even though on offensive KJ is a perimter oriented big for spacing purposes.
We even played Clemence at the 4 for a bit for abother 2 big look (can't remember if it was with Udeh or Zuby).

Re: Big Dick Energy
A lot of wrong stuff in there but KJ is clearly best suited to play as Jalen's backup at the 4 and maybe even next to Jalen depending on who else is in the lineup. Bill Self plays 4 around 1 and likely will until he retires as he has previously stated.
The odds are that KJ plays mostly at the 4 on the perimeter in a backup role. He'll also likely see some time at the 5 in a small lineup that switches everything and perhaps even a 5 out offensive set. That lineup is good on pressure defense but it's just too suspect. No post scoring ability at all, KJ is not a good rebounder, and he's too short to guard many 5's.
The most complete team we can have is if Udeh is ready.

like I said.
Udeh's that big huge old school center Self loves, and loves to build his gameplans around.
And, if this team's gonna win the conference or put any kind of postseason run together, it's a hell of a lot easier, if not necessary, to do so with at least one proper big man.
A good opponent with a good big man of their own might just have their way with us otherwise.

Trying to think of best debuts: Selby had 21, Wiggins 19, anyone else higher?
Dick with 21 so far.
