I think New York is going to get a Republican Governor. Not even a centrist. But this tweet by the current Governor is, policy aside, the stupidest political move I have ever seen.

Maybe it was at stake and the crisis was averted. This certainly could have been a very different morning for sure. But yeah, fear sells products and fear motivates votes.
