“That’s not the guy I want sitting across from President Xi [Jinping] ... or sitting across from [President Vladimir] Putin and trying to resolve what’s happening in Ukraine, if you can’t see around a corner [Disney CEO] Bob Iger created for you,” Christie said Tuesday during a livestreamed interview with Semafor, adding: “I don’t think Ron DeSantis is a conservative, based on his actions towards Disney.”
Former President Donald Trump also criticized DeSantis’ feud with Disney on Tuesday, writing in a Truth Social post that DeSantis is being “absolutely destroyed by Disney.”
“Disney’s next move will be the announcement that no more money will be invested in Florida because of the Governor — In fact, they could even announce a slow withdrawal or sale of certain properties, or the whole thing. Watch! That would be a killer. In the meantime, this is all so unnecessary, a political STUNT! Ron should work on the squatter MESS!” Trump said.
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, who has strongly hinted at a 2024 bid, said DeSantis’ feud with Disney is becoming a tit-for-tat because it’s not going as he had planned.
“Look, this has gone from kind of going after a headline to something that has devolved into an issue, and it convolutes the entire Republican message,” Sununu said on CNN on Monday night. “I just don’t think — it’s not good for Governor DeSantis. I don’t think it’s good for the Republican party.”

DeSantis picked a fight with Disney when it had a different CEO. Now that former CEO Bob Iger, one of the most revered business executives in American history has returned, DeSantis appears to be a bit on the back foot, lately.
Walt Disney World said on Wednesday it would break ground next year on a planned affordable housing development in Central Florida.
The unit of Walt Disney Co. said it plans to provide 1,400 housing units on 80 acres of land “a few miles away” from the Magic Kingdom and near schools and shopping. The first units are expected to be completed in 2026.
The announcement comes the same day as members of the state-appointed oversight board discussed the need for affordable housing for Disney’s 75,000 employees...

DeSantis is remarkably tone-deaf, even for a MAGA-era R. He’s picking SUCH a weird lane.

I thought he was trying to be the sane, methodical, less chaotic alternative to Trump, who gets things done without all the drama. But obviously, not so.

It was probably a fool’s errand* to go after Trump in the primary in the first place,** but man. The way he’s going, either he’ll turn Florida back into a swing state, or so denude Florida of smart, young people that the brain drain will cost the state dearly in the medium-term. Good thing Florida doesn’t figure on having any sort of existential-level crises, that will require some really smart, scientifically-oriented minds!
* The math checks out.
** Purely from a strategic standpoint, the smart thing for hopeful Rs to do, is stay on the sideline and hope the Trump problem solves itself.

Who doesn't hate seeing "conservative" Republicans tearing each other's clothes off*?
Other than making every possible effort to avoid wasting time paying attention whatsoever to Kari Lake's fever dream de jure, I still don't know how I managed to miss all this juicy drama. Get back, Meghan!
