BOOM! Klay Thompson is a Mav. Because Luka and Kyrie want to share the ball.

An elite catch an shoot guy will fit perfect on offense with them.

But that group defensively is a funny thing to think about. Klay was a really good defender about 8 years and 2 major injuries ago

Yeah, their defense probably leaves something/s to be desired but......
Last season, If I am not mistaken,
They were 7th in the league in points scored per game at 117.9.
They were 20th in the league in opponents points scored per game at 115.6

As I say too often, your defense can give up 200 a game as long as your offense scores 201.

Mistake by Dallas in my opinion. I think Klay is sort of washed up and his ego has become a problem.

Too early to tell. Dallas needed shooting, and klay is one of the greatest to ever do it.

Can he be honest with himself and accept his aging game? The way he played years ago is washed. If he can reinvent himself some and become more of a role player, he could fit nicely

Help/hear me out.

Tatum. 5 year 314 million extension. On average, 62.8 million a season. Highest paid player in the NBA.
NOT top 5 in the league in scoring. NOT top 20 in the league in rebounding. NOT top 40 in the league in assists. NOT top 75 in the league in FG%. NOT top 10 in the league in defensive rating.
No doubt still a great player but is he the best/most valuable - and/or should he be (I didn't say worthy of - I said should he be) the highest paid?

P.S. It was the Celtics who last July decided to make Brown the highest paid player in the NBA.
Worked out well I suppose, being that he was 2024 Finals MVP.

P.S.S. I just looked and Devonte' Graham is making more money than Chris Paul. Let that sink in for a while.

Tatum deserves the contract even though he is not a top 5 player in the league. They didn't have much choice. You've got to keep your young stars.

Are there 5 players that you project to be better than Tatum from 2025-2030?

Hard to say. It'll be close.

Players that come to mind (off the top of my head) are guys like Ja, Wemby, Luka, Ant, SGA, etc. And he's proven more than a lot of those guys.

Remember when rumor had it Delonte West was banging his teammate's mom?
Well, now LeBron is banging his teammate's mom.

They are tied for championships!

Seriously, outside of All Star games, what has Chris Paul done in the past 5 years?

I mean, outside of playing for 5 different teams?

Last 5 seasons he didn't play for 5 different teams. Just seems like it. ;)
If I am not mistaken, he played for the same amount of teams as Devonte' played for.

2019-2020 / 17.6 ppg, 6.7 ast, 5 reb
2020-2021 / 16.4 ppg, 8.9 ast, (3rd best in the league) 4.5 reb,
2021-2022 / 14.7 ppg, 10.8 ast (league best), 4.4 reb
2022-2023 / 13.9 ppg, 8.9 ast, (4th best in the league) 4.3 reb
2023-2024 / 9.2 ppg, 6.8 ast, 3.9 reb

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say a Joe Biden aged Chris Paul is who he once was, but to me, 11 million is almost a slap in the face. He's taking a 20 million a season pay cut from last season. Ok, yes, he was overpaid based on last season's numbers but not really overpaid based on his previous 4 season.
I'm seeing guys making 40 million plus a season who I don't feel are 4 times better basketball players than Chris Paul. I just looked, there are 32 PG who make as much or more than Chris Paul.

As far as Devonte', he had what I might consider a great season in 2020-2021, a pretty good season in 2021-2022, an ok season in 2022-2023, and Pop fucked him in 2023-2024. I think he's in his last year of his contract. Will be interesting to see what he gets paid his next contract.

Chris Paul is going to do a tonnnnn to help that young spurs team. Are they ready to contend? No. Are they aiming for the play in round and maybe a playoff series or 2? Yes.

Wemby is the future of the league. Playing with a seasoned vet and one of the better true pgs in nba history is going to speed up his development

If this ancient version of Chris Paul is played big minutes and durable, he could lead the league in assists again. Spurs have talented young guys and desperately need some pg play

I don't see him getting more assists than Haliburton, Luka, or Jokic. But he could be better than what he was per game last year, which was 12th in the league.

4th year - just under 2.5
More than Scottie Pippen got paid his 5th and 7th seasons in the NBA.
