The convention hasn't started yet, and I'm already sick of it.
Thanks, CNN.
Yeah, it could be worse. You could be me. The nightmare has just started. Not sure I will be able to handle 5 days.
At least I had some good tasks today. Nothing major. Had to go to the DNC Headquarters and pick up some stuff to bring to a hotel.
Fucking incredible how many law enforcement people there are in this city right now.
Heck, on my street (and around the block) there are at least 40 U.S. Capitol Police, NY Counter Terrorism guys, Maryland Police in tactical gear, etc.
I'll post a few pics in a minute or 5.

No swag for me yet. I did have to drop off a bunch of shit and I am in possession of a shitload of shirts for the "closing" party.
Tomorrow I have to deal with distributing credentials in the morning and then will hopefully get to go to the Daily Show taping in the afternoon.

The DNC in Denver was horrible for most of the city. Just about everything pre-planned. Little spontaneous spending, especially as it compares to most other large events.

I've no idea what you're going thru, but in my experience, telling myself over and over that I could do anything, as long as I knew it would end, worked pretty well - I was going to/had to do it anyway, why let something inevitable determine my outlook on life. Doing a two-month long OB-Gyn rotation where you were on call and up all night every 3rd night delivering babies for 60 days, somehow became more tolerable when I kept reminding myself it wouldn't go on forever.
You can do anything, for five days. We have faith in you.
And, oh by the way... I don't know what you're being asked to do, or the atmosphere or level of BS, but there are multitudes of people with an interest in politics and power who would give anything for the opportunities you've had to rub elbows with a number of heavy hitters spanning over years. And while I have to wonder if it's due to that exposure from whence your cynicism comes, what you're being tasked with doing now is the toll you pay for that access, that to a less cynical person, might seem like a fair price to pay. No?

The city, mayor? of Milwaukee complained about the same thing-lack of spending by Republicans, as soon as their convention was over.

It’s a real thing. Or at least was in 2008.
I was a head wait at a place downtown. Our managers decided to turn away large groups in favor of all the thousands and millions of people that would be eating at all times of the day and night.
I made around $200 in 4 days. Place had no more than six tables sat any one time.
I did wait on Sean Penn one of the evenings. And he was the only person in the restaurant. He was not a nice person. To me, waiting on him, or anyone else that interacted with him.
Meh.

You'd think that the far-left looney machine protesting against the Democratic Party's nominee would be proof enough that the Democratic nominee isn't part of the far-left looney machine like Trump is trying to convince everyone is the case.
Meanwhile, the far-right looney machine IS the GOP nominee.

Kosta and Mich’s girlfriend Gretchen later today.
Dealing with credentials now.
Meeting in office later today canceled due to logistics.
I’ll tell you who it was supposed to be after they (yes “they”) are at the convention. Supposed to be a “surprise”.

If and when they DO, and it’s a piece of the mosaic that results in a complete wipeout in November, I fully expect your crew to say that it must have been fraud. Because young people don’t vote, and that’s that.

Harris is leading amongst Boomers now too. For those who love inclusiveness, country and democracy, especially young people, this is a watershed moment. Trump's actual policy is that he is an idiot who believes himself a genius thwarted by a reality spoiled by enemies. Always enemies. It will be Mich's fault, not Trump's own, that he was repudiated.
