Not surprising in the slightest, given your posts on the other bored.
How so?
Several ways.

1. Look at Gutter’s response to your initial post. Anyone who gets one’s news from more than two diverse sources would know who Lionel Messi is. He’s the most well known athlete in the world. One is not likely to know a jockey or skateboarder, but Betts and McDavid are both quite well known - maybe not Messi-level, but famous nonetheless.

2. The question was who was MOST TALENTED. Not who you like most. But you based your choice on your personal bias. There are many talented people I don’t like. But I never discount their talents (eg. Coach K).

You just proved that your world view is very narrow and very biased.
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Answer ONE of the following two questions.
a. Do you own/possess in your home - a book of matches?
b. Have you ever fixed up ("matchmaked") a couple that ended up getting married?

2. When you were between 8 and 12 years old, who was a famous person you would have liked to have met?

3. You must go to one of these places by yourself and spend 6 consecutive hours. You can not do nothing while you are there. You have to spend at least 4.5 of those hours either on a tour/walking around and observing on your own/participating in activities/etc.
Which do you chose?
a. The Art Institute of Chicago
b. National Museum of African American History and Culture in D.C.
c. Disneyland (in CA)
d. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland
e. Steven F. Udvar - Hazy Center in VA
f. JFK Presidential Library and Museum in MA
g. International UFO Museum and Research Center in NM

4.If your work enabled you to work a 9 hour day, any consecutive 9 hours, Monday through Friday, which of the following would you choose?
a. 8:00am - 5:00pm
b. 5:30am - 2:30pm
c. 10:00am - 7:00pm
d. 6:00am - 3:00pm
e. 12:00pm - 9:00pm
f. 9:00am - 6:00pm
g. 2:00pm - 11:00pm

5. Who do you feel is the MOST TALENTED (not necessarily "the best") of the following athletes?
a. Lionel Messi
b. Connor McDavid
c. Mookie Betts
d. Steph Curry
e. William Buick
f. Nyjah Huston
g. Patrick Mahomes
1.(a) a collection
(b) No
2. Winston Churchill (I’m eighty)
3. Disneyland (visited the first year they opened (1955).
4. 8-5 (if I wasn’t retired)
5. Mahomes (the multi-talented Wilt Chamberlain should be on the list)

1. a. "a collection" is cool! My father smoked cigars and pipes. He had a heck of a collection when I was a kid.
2. Come on! Maybe you have shared it on here but today I would have had no idea you are 80 if you didn't say it.
3. 69 years later... Still one of the top tourist attractions in the USA. Did you ride on the King Arthur Carrousel?
4. Yeah, but then you will be late for the early bird specials.
5. Wilt would be in my top 2 or 3 of the choices I listed.

I think if Gutter had said Ohtani I’d have given pause but Betts isn’t generational good. Baseball takes incredible talent.

But Messi and Mahomes are both generationally good.

You read my mind! I was going to use Ohtani instead of Betts. And yes, Baseball takes incredible talent.
While I may think Messi is the most talented soccer player, I'm not sure I feel he's a more talented athlete than any of other the people I mentioned. Defining "talent" in regards to the people I mentioned is definitely subjective.

I don’t think people understand how difficult it is to do those things with your feet…and it’s largely Americans who don’t.

Also JK has heard of Messi.
Anyone who follows any sport to the level of where they are posting on a sports message bored is lying if they say otherwise.

Incorrect. I don’t care about soccer or baseball - my #1 and #2 most boring and pointless sports - and I don’t read or watch anything about them. If you held a gun to my head and told me I had to name one soccer player, Pele’ is the best I could do. I also can’t name a Taylor Swift song or tell you the names of any country music acts that are currently in the top 25.

I disagree with the notion that not wasting time reading about or watching things that are not of interest to me makes me some kind of monster.

Like Messi, McDavid and Houston do difficult things with their feet that I feel most Americans don't understand how difficult it is.

it would be more amazing if you haven't heard of Messi. Pretty tough to avoid if you watch espn, or scroll espn or other sports news...even if you hate soccer.

I have a two year old. If it’s not Cocomelon, Paw Patrol, or Spirit, I don’t see it, outside of the occasional show my wife and I stream in the hour or so we have to ourselves each day.

But, even before that, I wasn’t an espn watcher. If I want to watch a game, I watch it. If I want to know the scores or watch highlights, I look them up.

I don’t have time to sit and watch someone tell me about everything happening in the world of sport every day.
