randylahey wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 5:53 pm Long overdue. Let's make public just how much taxpayer money is being wasted, and on what. Will be especially interesting next time they talk about raising any taxes
LOL. Another in a long line of stupid ideas just this week from Old Man Trump.
OK I get you don't like trump. And that's OK, let's look past that and focus.

1. This wasn't trumps idea. Just something he was recommended

2. What logical reason is this a bad idea?
Holding our government accountable for their wasteful spending is long overdue. A lot of Americans would love transparency and accountability for how their tax dollars are used
People who have no idea what funding is or isn't "important" is making that decision. Elon Musk has shown himself to be blatantly biased and shamelessly pliable in favor of whoever gives him the most money. That isn't who should be doing any sort of auditing of any policy or funding.

That's a horrible take on Elon

He's bought Twitter and cut staffing and their budget significantly and it runs just fine. He has a proven track record in auditing or increasing a companies efficiency. He also bought tesla and it's become one of the most valuable companies in the world

Our government desperately needs an audit. We have a major spending problem. Elon would be a good fit to do it. It needs to be done even if Elon or trump aren't involved

Start with auditing tampon prices.
I hear that is the biggest drain on our economy

Why is this a bad idea?

It's simply an excuse for explaining to the MAGA crowd who depend on Medicare and Social Security why it's necessary to slash both in favor of tax cuts for billionaires.

Seahawk needs to be put on scholarship for "ability to jump to conclusions". That's some serious leaping ability

A lot of the Maga crowd is dependent on medicaire and social security just like everyone else

Anyone else notice the irony?

We are supposed to believe that the key to financial stability lies in the hands of blindly believing that:

Donald Trump is going to slow the valve of income (taxes), while cutting programs. On the block, incentives for green energy programs, along with many government programs that help Americans grind through life.

Elon Musk is most famous for 2 things. Burning through investor cash and building wealth that mostly exists in the highly over-valued stock of his companies. If you wanted 3 reasons, he has always been a narcissistic prick, a trait he shares with Orange Julius.

Here is the twist. They both claim to know more about business and wealth than anyone. But a close look reveals that they both have been wildly unsuccessful in nearly everything they have done.

Trump’s largest success has been milking mouth- breathers of cash.

Elons largest success (he doesnt get credit for PayPal from me, because he was one of 3 people who founded it) has been Tesla. A company which has never been profitable, and would have been a titanic failure WITHOUT government subsidies.

Anyone else see the juxtaposition?

Here's an example. The department of education. We spend more on education than any developed country. Yet for some reason continue to rank lower and lower when you compare test scores. Since the creation of the department of education, our public schools have somehow gotten progressively worse. Kids are getting through school and can barely read and have zero clue how to function in the real world.

Where is all that money going? How does our country how the worst ratio of academic investment and academic yield in the world?

I'm not surprised. I'd appalled that the idea of a more efficient government is controversial. But not surprised

Also, every "illegal" also received a free Masters Degree and unlimited crab legs for life by simply registering to vote Democrat.

I am not surprised that a social media platform that is owned and operated by a so-called "free speech absolutist" and yet is rigged to amplify right-wing voices and talking points is, in your view, running just fine.
