YES.
I will say, one of the nice things about my job is that clients know that it (technically) costs money to pick up the phone and call me.

In practice, I don't actually bill that sort of thing if it doesn't take much time or require real work.

But I'm certainly aware that I don't get nearly the volume of nonsense calls that people with other jobs get.

^^^ x 1 billion.

Insurance co.s and Medicare wouldn't allow us to charge for telephone conversations.

...... My cable box (yeah, I know, - fuck me - I have Xfinity cable in 2024) in my bedroom being broken and not working - and my not being able to get a replacement sent to me and/or not being able to pick one up - and instead having to wait until Sunday to have a service technician come to my home.

Buy a smart TV.
When I am in Chicago this weekend, let’s throw that 1980s TV box in Lake Michigan and go grab a pizza…my treat!

I don't have a problem throwing the box in Lake Michigan but I told you, unfortunately I'm not eating any pizza.
On a semi related note, I will pay you to throw the two barking dogs on my floor in my building in to the middle of Lake Michigan. Well, maybe throw their owners in the middle of Lake Michigan and let's give the dogs to someone who doesn't live on my floor.

This is getting fucking ridiculous. I have no doubt I am being awoken by their barking because I am awake at 1:32am and I hear them barking now.
What rights do I have as a renter to not be awoken and kept awake by barking dogs?
P.S. For those who may/will say you knew that dogs were/are allowed in your building when you moved in - when I moved in on National Championship day in 2008 - Dogs were NOT allowed in the building.

"What rights do I have as a renter to not be awoken and kept awake by barking dogs?"

File a complaint to your complex.
Then I guess check your lease if it specifically has anything about noise after a certain time.

This commercial.
As soon as the music starts, I can't "Mute" it, fast enough.

You have a very strong hand there, pdub.

But, I'm going to see your Jardiance Commercial, and raise you:

Today in First World Problems:

I went to a lab yesterday to do a urinalysis, pee in a cup, for an upcoming medical exam.

Today I get a text, a text*, asking me to click on a link and let them know about my experience. That's the 3rd request from a business in the last two days. Fuck you, leave me alone.

*After wearing a beeper 24/7 for nearly 3 decades, when I get a text, like my beeper going off used to be, i.e., something that couldn't be ignored, it's something that grabs my attention, very unlike an email for which I don't have "notifications" turned on. Then, it alerts me a 2nd time if I don't click on it after the first alert. Or, was that next alert from my daughter or someone else I care about? Not sure without looking...gotta look...made you look.

Leave me alone!

I get a text about twice a day asking if I want to sell my house, or if I can just give some money to help a trumper out with funding for commercials.

My clients also contact me via text and employees who work remote, so I always read my texts when they come in.

Maybe it's my area code, maybe my zip code, maybe it's my age, likely a combination of those things.

Text "STOP" to unsubscribe.

I am trying to compile a list of other things you can type to unsubscribe.

fuck off - works
fuck you - works
fuck - works
shit - works
dick - works
X - works
S - works
ass - works

There are prolly lots more but it gets annoying and is no longer fun thinking of more and I mostly just type "fuck".

One word, slightly satisfying; after I get to "fu" my smart phone fills in the "ck". I love smart technology sometimes.

Shirley, you should just respond with, "depends on how much weed you found in my piss."

I had a recent health scare of my own, complete with the similar bombardment of texts. For now, lemme just say, it def belongs in this thread.

As for the also annoying unsolicited texts (often election related) with the STOP to unsubscribe...

Say it says some shit like, "will you join us in the fight to save the pols bored" kinda message. I'll respond with a similarly unsolicited, "the only fight I want to join is the fight this chonky rainbow trout puts on the other end of my line!"

Then I'll send a standard issue grip-and-grin trophy photo.

I then follow up with, "will you join me in this fight and row the boat so I can fish off the bow, or at least split gas money to the river? Text "STOP" to unsubscribe."
