Comparable stats. I get your point. But you know how it is.
I'd say grimes doing it against a good team is more impressive than Braun doing it against an awful team...but Braun is going to have a much better career at KU because he will be here multiple years.
And Braun is an aggressive SOB. I watched Grimes play in Wichita on Saturday. Had a fast break.... and did a layup.
Braun would have tomahawked that bitch so hard.
And then shot arrows at the opposing bench!

If the debate is who would you rather have on your team, which basically it is. Then yea, Braun wins that everytime

You want to not rely on stats? Fine Braun is more active, more physical, and more aggressive than Grimes. Not just last night, but in general.
Even at the time the Grimes game felt like a fluke in that he did it all from 3 when he wasn't a good shooter (I thought he'd have lots of games like that at the time, but as the slasher/playmaker he was billed as being).
With Braun it felt like that was the type of game he'd have when he's on.
If there was a 50/50 ball and Grimes and Braun were playing, I'd put my money on Braun getting it between the two. So, similar stat line plus that, I give the edge to Braun.
Totally with you on their play styles. Braun is a fun player to watch.
Grimes is gone. Still a better prospect overall, but I'm glad we've got Braun now. None of the extra headache with him.

I disagree. Ive seen nothing from Grimes that shows he is a better prospect than Braun other than his inflated HS career.

Is he the better prospect. He's a half a cinnamin roll away from being fat?

Honestly, in my personal opinion, I'd say Braun is the better college prospect because he can shoot so well....but Grimes is still probably the better NBA prospect, although I honestly don't think either are NBA players...when guys like Wayne Selden have trouble sticking, it really illustrates exactly how hard it is to make it in the league....and also illustrates how incredible Devonte has been at working hard, being dedicated, improving himself, etc.

It more shows that NBA is becoming a niche game.
What was Selden great at?
On the other hand, Svi is great at one thing, and looks like he'll stick. Devonte', great at 2-3 things and is a borderline All-Star.

At the college level I thought he was great at scoring/defending/rebounding. Elite strength.

Braun attacks the basket on both sides of the court. He’s way better than a timid not really good at much Grimes. And he wants to be here.
Brauns a stud.

Yes. That's what I like most about Braun. He's going to be aggressive and play defense, rebound and be athletic. If the shots fall, then watch out. All the better.
But if he hits like he did Tuesday night, I don't think many teams will stop Kansas.

I watched most of the 2nd half last night between Houston and UConn. Grimes has done literally nothing to get better. He picked up his 4th foul with 8 and a half minutes left and came out for a few minutes. He played the last 6 minutes and the only time his name shows up in the play-by-play of the game is when he missed 2 free throws around the 5 minute mark. I was one of his biggest supporters last year when everyone else was hoping he'd find his spot at the end of the bench.
Take out the McD's AA label and class rankings and just put him on the floor with a bunch of other guys and he's just another guy. He's had 4 high scoring games this year. Not a single one game against a decent, let alone good, team. Rice, Texas Southern, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina. Take those games out and he's averaging 8.5 points while shooting worse than his already shitty numbers as a freshman.
Small sample size take since that's the first I've watched Houston this year, but Braun over Grimes every time. Grimes went to Houston thinking he could walk in and be the guy. He has now lost his spot to a redshirt freshman for the 2nd straight year. At least with Braun you'll know he's on the floor by putting his nose in the action even if he's not lighting up the box score.

One of Grimes' best college games was his very first one. I think there were many of us who expected great things from him after that. Bill Self included.
