This is what a real tragedy looks like.

I am blaming this on Overlander, he is just slowing the pipeline to price gouge the precious few billionaires we have left.

I am having trouble getting the HVAC installed ahead of schedule in my third home out in the Empire. Why? Because all of the employees of the HVAC company are staying home because they all have covid.

None of them are in the ICU. The building is vacant. But driving 50 miles through a blizzard is too much trouble when your body aches and you have a brain fog? Nobody has any sort of work ethic these days.

A new tax cut might be the only thing that makes me feel better. MO is looking at zeroing out corporate taxes, fuck yeah! I think we could cut dividend taxes a little more as well.

Mjl wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:38 am Seems like a good thing that so many more people can afford boats. Upward mobility is a real thing. And at the same time median (not just average) wages are rising, so it's not at the expense of the working class.
So many more people….how is that a good thing?

887 superyachts total. Many of them purchased by folks who already had yachts anyway. Out of 7.7 billion people.

Qusdahl says that’s still too many!

I’d rather capitalism continue careening toward some inevitable neo-feudalism, at which point every yacht and every piece of real estate and every bidness everywhere will be owned solely by me.

And, yes, new tax cuts too! Fuck yeah!

Japhy gets it.

I'll mark you down for rooting for Plano and his coworkers to be out of a job

No no no!

I don’t want anyone to be OUT of a job. Not one bit!

I want every single person on this planet to have a job. But just have a job working for ME, so I can deprive them of their surplus labor value.

Right on cue.

This is the infrastructure plan we need!

Right?

That’s why he did it, no doubt. For the benefit of us all!

….especially considering he could have always just flown over the bridge in his cock rocket instead.

I don't think the people getting those jobs care about why he did it.

“It’s a great time to be a yacht owner,” Tucker said. “Those who bought a year ago could potentially now sell for a profit having enjoyed a full season of free superyachting.”

God damn it, why didn't I think of that. A free year of "superyachting". It sounds much more luxurious than motorboating. The urban dictionary doesn't have a definition for "superyachting" but I will guess is like "yachting" x 100.

Yes, and last year was a huge increase from the year before

Ok but how do the last 6 months of 2021 compare to the middle 6 months of 2019?

I take it intentional "criminal damage" to property is a "misdemeanor" in the Netherlands.

People are mad that the people they voted for are going to have the same bridge in better shape than it was before, create jobs, and raise money for the city, with zero negative impact on anyone or anything.

it won’t be the same bridge, and there is no guarantee it’ll be better

imo, that justification is akin to saying the notre dame fire was nbd because they’re just going to rebuild it better

only the bridge is worse because of the motivation

that said, it’s great that people will get some temp jobs out of the deal…maybe bezos will give the workers a year’s worth of free amazon delivery too
