Virginia was better at defense than they were offense. Defense won them a championship.

Actually the championship was won by outscoring their opponent in six consecutive games in a single elimination tournament.

But yet you cite only total points per game and total three pointers made as reasons their offense wasn't good.

Their offense was excellent.
I didn't say their offense "wasn't good".
You just did.
And technically no one "says" anything around here. it is an internet message board, and we type things out.

I can see a few posters literally yelling their point at the screen before typing a less animated response.

I hope for his sake that Doyel does exactly the opposite in Game threads. His posts are knee jerk angry reactions then he calms down and becomes reasonable IRL.

2nd best offense in the nation.

They weren't #1 in defense.

He’s already ignored this fact once. Similar to science, he ignores facts if they don’t fit his narrative

Can anyone explain what goes into kenpom formulas? Fancy crimscore?

Well I can tell you it factors in things like pace of play and strategy to figure out their rankings and not just some basic test like Grambling averages more points per game, so they must have a better offense.

Which defense would you say is better?

1. 65 points per game, but 1 point per possession

Or

2. 72 points per game, but 0.85 points per possession

Not sure.

What are their opponents FG%s from 2pt and 3pt? Rebound %s?

Points per 100 possessions adjusted to opponent. So you can still have a low tempo but a good offense.

Maybe that's why DH plays over Remy?

It's probably because Head Coach Bill Self decides to play him more. HCBS makes all decisions on playing time.

You have to include Drew Timme in there.
I know you don't want to.
