Well I can tell you it factors in things like pace of play and strategy to figure out their rankings and not just some basic test like Grambling averages more points per game, so they must have a better offense.

Which defense would you say is better?

1. 65 points per game, but 1 point per possession

Or

2. 72 points per game, but 0.85 points per possession

Not sure.

What are their opponents FG%s from 2pt and 3pt? Rebound %s?

Points per 100 possessions adjusted to opponent. So you can still have a low tempo but a good offense.
