They looked PISSED last night. Jalen was on ESPN, looked pissed. When they were announced and they were in their film room, they looked pissed. Dajuan and KJ at the podium last night. Pissed.

Self won't talk until probably Tuesday evening, but I bet he's livid.
Other than not being the overall 1 or 2 seed and playing in Vegas instead of KC, why would they be pissed and livid?
I'd tell them perhaps if they didn't lose by 20 and 16 to Texas and 23 at home to TCU - things might be different - and to just focus on beating Howard on Thursday. :o  :? ;)
They also set the record for most Quad 1 wins, in history. They beat every team that they played except for Tennessee. All their other losses were against teams that they beat in conference play.

Lost to Iowa State, beat them earlier
Lost to kstate, beat them later in AFH
Smoked by TCU at home, beat them in Ft Worth later
Lost to Texas to end the year, beat them in AFH earlier
Lost to Baylor, smoked them at AFH later

They were punished for losing 5 conference games, some of them by double digits and 4 of those 5 on the road in the country's toughest conference.

While Houston had zero recourse for losing against 16-16 Temple.
Their reasoning of Houston having a better winning % against quad 1 made me chuckle.

So now it's about winning %?

Just say: "we watched both teams and think Houston is better." That'd be fine. Hell, many of us would agree.

They mentioned Quad 2 for the like the first time ever too. Bizarre.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... s-play-out

"WEST ANALYSIS: This region is a gauntlet. Kansas, UCLA, Gonzaga and UConn are all Final Four good. TCU and Arkansas are talented enough to win multiple games. And then there are even battle-tested double-digit seeds like Atlantic 10 champion VCU and Rick Pitino-coached Iona...And then I'm going with a surprise to get out of this region and get to the Final Four. UConn looked like the best team in the country for two months, then looked like something close to that for the final couple weeks of the regular season. Kansas has shown some warts lately, while UCLA has injury problems going into the NCAA tournament without Jaylen Clark and possibly Adem Bona. UConn is going on a run ... if Pitino doesn't take them down in the first round."

there is very little good basketball being played west of the mississippi. the 2 and 3 seed are from west of the mississippi. so to be placed in the west region is a gift.

Just filled out my first bracket. And I am really upset that Kansas and Texas are on same side of the big bracket. If they each make it, they'll meet in Final 4.

yup, I got the same. Maybe Udeh's development shows signs reminiscent of Dmac turning it on in the tourney? Probably not, but one can hope...

I picked Kansas, of course, because I think Self would use his own experience in that type of atmosphere in his favor compared to an interim coach.

Since I am not doing any brackets for money, I just pick based on how I want it to go, not how I expect it to go. No reason to try to be accurate with nothing on the line. KU plays pissed and Self's kinder, gentler mentality post heart-scare has KU cutting down the nets again. Fuck 'em all.

I'm usually in three brackets, two for money.
One money I always pick Kansas bc i'd kick myself if they won and I didn't pick them and coulda gotten paid out too ( last season, unfortunately, I finished 2nd to a UNC fan who picked KU UNC with KU winning it ).

Seems to me like what would make sense is using objective measures (SOS; Q wins; predictive analytics, etc.) to put teams in bands/tiers, and then constrain the humans to sort only relative ordering within those bands/tiers.

unfortunate that eddie lampkin turned on them down the stretch. tcu has lots of tools. but their 3-point shooting isn't good enough to take down the best.

Just come up with a system, even if it's "we mostly just use the eyetest and our gut".
Don't lay out a measuring technique and then completely disregard it.

I might do a bracket this year.

Should I do a bracket?
