On a semi related note, did you see the other night they (the Thunder) jacked up 53 3 pointers and the Spurs jacked up 46?
Was that the night Wemby was out?

OKC is without Holmgren so they are basically playing a SF at C right now. A bunch of 3s from them is to be expected based on the type of lineup they are throwing out there.

Yes, and that was exactly my thought!
Not much of an "inside" game with both those guys being out - so why not jack up 99 3 pointers?

"The effort level on a nightly basis is too low. The defense sucks. The ball movement sucks. There's too much isolation basketball and chucking up of bad shots. A lot of star players are not very coachable. There is no reason the best players in the world should be giving us the worst version of basketball."

I was responding to this.
I think this is true for a lot of games.

Teams will just let a player dribble the ball up the court, the other four spread out and watch, and the guy who has the ball tries to beat his man off the dribble or just pull up a 3.

I agree the Celtics ( and other good teams ) make a point to not rely on this but Tatum has his share of these plays every game.

this is exactly why i rarely watch full games

i might watch a quarter here or there if a Jayhawk is playing, and will watch SC recaps/highlights

It's frustrating to be sure - regarding effort - but again, these dudes are playing 80 games and then ( hopefully for them ) could be looking at another 20 in the post season.

But also the talent level is insane - multiple times a quarter you go, ah, yup, these dudes are really good.

i guess there’s added frustration for me because, in a sense, i see it as taking for granted what they get to do for a living
