And we need to learn more about this ornery mom
His mom liked a tweet I had about something KU basketball related, so I feel like I know her.

They show CB's mom on TV every few games at AFH. She's always yelling shit at the refs, players, opposing coaches, every time.
EVERY TIME. It's great.
But when Gregg Marshall's wife does it, it's trashy.
Coache's wife who sits front row vs players parent who is about 15 rows back. Miss me with that comparison.

It was a gutter 6.
But definitely not a gutter 10.

Not to mention, no altercations and arguments with fans at games, in the general public, and in the media. Very dumb. Brittany Matthews to Marshall is way more apt.

When Marshall's wife has drunken, f-bomb laced altercations with opposing players and coaches like a lunatic, it's trashy. When Braun's Mom yells at the refs, players and coaches like every other fan is doing, it's fine.

The latter is being a typical sports-parent. Granted, if I was able to choose, I wouldn't take it, but I got Braun's mom from my dad and sisters for 15+ years, as did most millennials who played competitive sports. There's a clear line, though. The line being crossed when I witnessed some parents following 5 year old soccer refs off the field this last fall. Or Marshall's wife.

I quit coaching as a part time job in college because of those parents.

Braun was so good shooting the ball as a freshman — he made 45.6 percent of his 3s — that his reputation became that of a spot-up shooter who made the hustle plays. He filled the same responsibility as a sophomore, though his shooting numbers dropped a bit...but he felt like he was capable of more.
“It wasn’t something that the coaches made me into,” he says. “I felt like, I need to go be athletic and go be who I was. It’s not even just going and making plays off the bounce; it’s just making dunks and highlight plays like that, showing off athleticism.”

Braun’s best chance at the league is to get his shooting back closer to freshman numbers.
Braun’s biggest obstacle in the way of the league is he looks a lot more athletic against mid majors than he does against conference phos.

Yeah, CB gets up.
My comment was more with regard to defense, and offensively being able to beat guys off the dribble more often.

I thought he looked a lot quicker on offense against ISU than we've seen in the past because he was being so assertive with the dribble penetration with Och out. Missed some bunny layups/floaters.
But, his side-to-side quickness will always be a concern in the league on defense, no question.
If he leaves and it means he kills on a Final Four run, then that's my preference. But, if he does come back, he's going to tear it up here, which is also welcome.

Yeah, just generally being more assertive will help both his draft stock and our final four chances.
I feel like he kind of gets shit in game threads too, about a bonehead turnover or missed assignment, or things like “why’d he pass up a serviceably open look only to then rush an off balance 30 footer” and stuff.
And to be clear, and in the spirit of going full Q, I’m not complaining about the mistakes, so much as the fact fans point it out in the game thread.
The audacity!

Pretty much every player who commits bonehead turnovers or has missed assignments is going to get
complained about in the game thread. It doesn't feel like Braun is getting unfairly singled out.

Marshall and his wife are both low-class trailer trash. I had a friend who worked in the athletic department at WSUck and he told all kinds of stories about how arrogant, explosive, abusive, and ridiculous they were. They were widely reviled all across campus.
His era embedded an antagonistic, knuckleheaded ethos into the WSUck fan base and Wichita media that will linger in the atmosphere for years to come.

No.
Of all the players, he's one of the least singled out.
Can we guess who is the most singled out?

Wasn’t Jeff Sandbothe also kind of a dirty player (who wasn’t!) at Mizzou?

Dajuan? Cuz he’s the pg, can’t shoot, and just not that statistically productive.
Dave? Cuz he’s a spaz.
Jalen? Cuz he got a dui and has ink so he couldn’t possibly be a good keed.
Yeah, must be Jalen.

I wonder if Braun will beat Dick off when he comes next year.
Though Dick may be a different position.
