For me it's not the speed, it's all accent/pronunciation.

I've worked with a lot of people in India for years. I just can't get the accent. I've tried and I feel horrible asking them to repeat themselves. At one point, I asked a guy to just IM me. I don't seem to have this problem with any other accent.
I know it doesn't help but in the past i've tried to put my ear closer to the speaker in the conference room to attempt to understand better. I also, for some reason, have been the go-to-guy who can kind of understand/decipher what our partners are saying...so I can't imagine what all the other people are hearing.

by the Office of Communications
Sept. 19, 2020 11:21 a.m.
This is NOT a test. Follow the instructions in this message for your safety. A bomb threat was received for the Art Museum, Firestone Library, Nassau Hall and the Chapel. The Department of Public Safety has issued an evacuation order for these buildings. Please collect your personal items including your car keys. Leave your door unlocked and open to allow the area to be inspected. Calmly leave the building and go to your building’s designated evacuation assembly area. Public Safety personnel are responding. If you are not currently on campus, avoid traveling to the area. Remain away from the area until an all-clear is issued. Unless you have details about this emergency, please avoid using phones on campus unless the matter is urgent, as this may slow or prevent the timely delivery of further information about this emergency. While specific details of this report continue to be investigated, this message is being sent to ensure your immediate safety. I knew a girl whose last name was Dieckhaus, pronounced "Dickhouse". She was very happy to get married and drop that.

I was in either home room or a class with students with the last name Seimen and Weiner ( pronounced as wee-ner and see-man as expected ).

The substitutions during roll call would have to pronounce their names back to back and would always intentionally?? fuck it up only to be corrected.

Middle school laughter.

I used to work with a guy named Mike Dick. No one really cared or said anything. Until he changed his last name to Thompson. Then he was known as Mike Dick-Thompson.

Co-worker who I consider to also be a friend is a health nut. The way/s she exercises and eats is to me excessive and obsessive.
Problem is she now basically looks anorexic and sick - not healthy. Skin and bones.
I truly care about her. She's a good person.
I'm feeling it's probably as inappropriate to be truthful and tell her I feel she is way too skinny as it would be for me to tell a fat person they are way too fat.
Still, I am seriously concerned about her well being and am torn.
Should I say something to her? My concern with that is it would possibly (probably?) jeopardize our friendship but I also feel I should express that I care - because I do.

The crazy thing is if you looked at her and someone said they will give you $100 if you can guess if she is a vegetarian of not, I am confident most people would guess she is.
She isn't. She won't eat "unhealthy" bread but she'll actually eat a burger. At least she did a year or so ago.
Now it looks like she may only eat birdseed.

It does not necessarily follow that vegetarians don’t suffer from eating disorders or are universally healthy and have a low BMI.

Unfortunately many vegetarians make unhealthy food choices such as using heavy dressing on a salad, overloading on dairy and fats and eating fried food.

Obesity, diabetes and heart disease are of very high prevalence (recently) in countries like India where vegetarianism is highly prevalent. Even those who aren’t strictly vegetarian all the time are vegetarians for a majority of the time due to practical constraints. It’s being attributed to foods becoming generally richer, greater availability of fast food combined with a more sedentary lifestyle.
