A poor girl I work with just sent an email to a listserv with about 1,000 lawyers on it, asking for recommendations for an accounting firm.

RIP her inbox.

Going to be an absolute deluge of "here's an accountant I really want referrals from" thirst.

Dang.

My buddy was burned out at a job, and management was taking notice. His immediate supervisor sent an email to HR about his attitude, phrasing it in rather belittling terms, and with some unprofessional tone. But - oops! - the manager accidentally sent it to the whole company of hundreds.

Needless to say, buddy’s employment there didn’t last any longer, once there was some tacit acknowledgement of “yeah we shouldn’t have sent a company wide email about it but you still have an attitude” and “yeah you guys are a bunch of incompetent loosers”

Right now, this reply-all thing is a depression off the western coast of Africa. Time will tell if it develops into Hurricane Please-Take-Me-Off-This-Reply-All-Reply-All by the afternoon.

Today's edition of - WTF is wrong with people?

"Wine and Cheese" Night in my building this evening.

FREE mini bottles of various types of wine and some shit cheese, shit salami sticks, shit crackers, etc.
Signs on the table that clearly say/state PLEASE DON'T TOUCH - WE WILL SERVE YOU.

Older woman (I would say late 60s early 70s) in front of me. Has the balls to ask for TWO Pinot Grigios and TWO Sauvignon Blancs. They reluctantly tell her she can either have ONE of each or TWO of ONE kind because they want to make sure EVERY resident who would like wine can have some.
Woman complains the bottles are too small and that they should have bought bigger bottles.
Two seconds later SHE is grabbing MULTIPLE cheeses of different kinds, MULTIPLE salami sticks, MULTIPLE packs of crackers and putting them in her hand bag. I would estimate at least 5 of each.

Guy behind me - "Hey - what are you doing? How about you take one of each and don't be so greedy"?
Woman's response - "Mind your own business".
WHOA! FIGHT! Actually, no fight. That's all they said to one another.

My turn. I asked for a SINGLE shit salami stick. I then asked the building management people why they allowed her to grab all of the cheese (shit), salami sticks (shit), and crackers (shit).
A couple of nervous grins and shoulder shrugs.
I rolled my eyes and walked away with my SINGLE shit salami stick.

I still remember about 12 or so years ago we put a project with high uncertainty (very specialized reaction conditions) with two French contractors. Each didn’t know that we had essentially put them in competition, although it was in our best interest that they both succeeded. First name of the project manager at each firm was Olivier. Did I triple-quadruple-quintuple check before I hit the send button!! I have on occasion run back to my desk from the lab, in cold sweat, to confirm in my “sent mail” that I had emailed the right guy!!

And here’s the punchline: about two years later, after each company had successfully completed the project and we had manufactured enough materials, I got word that one of the Oliviers moved from Firm A to Firm B and we had a hearty laugh when we met a few years after that. I still correspond with both of them, in a nonprofessional capacity 😄

A large telecom company based in KC I used to work for had an email fiasco back in the day.
Some girl in New Mexico thought she was sending an email to her buds at the office and asked if they would like to go to applebees for lunch.
She goofed and sent it to all 30,000 or so employees.
Some ditzy chick a couple cube rows down from me replied to all saying she would love to but she's in KC and didn't think she could make it... haha.
Some other moran in some other city said me too, I'm in BFE North Carolina
Some other moran in some other city said me too, I'm in BFE NY
Some other moran in some other city said me too, I'm in BFE Cali
Some manager moran replied to all saying please remove me from this chain
A bunch of other morans replied to all saying the same thing
Some moran replied to all saying quit replying to all and this stoopid email ends
A bunch of other morans say, yea, quit replying to all
...
IT finally killed the chain after about 2 hours and a bunch of morans got fired for abusing corporate email.

Since I know so many of you were all randomly wondering, the Aztec word for armadillo is āyōtōchtli, which translates to “turtle rabbit”

Question for anyone to answer....
Psycho woman/girl lives on my floor. I was told today by security that she was actually “institutionalized” recently and that someone is renting her apartment for her.
Long story short, Sunday night/Monday morning she was wandering in the hallway talking to herself. Loud. She was out in the hallway off and on from about 11:00pm to 5:00am.
I was told by security that management is trying to document everything and oust her but it’s a very difficult process.
Here is my question and there are several parts to it.
What legal right/s does she have, the building have, and me as a renter who can not be assured that she is not “dangerous” have?
It seems she’s on some heavy duty meds or if she’s not, she needs to be. I somewhat feel bad for her but she is disturbing me and my fellow residents on our floor and affecting our own well being and ability to sleep.
I have been told to notify security and management of any and all incidents and yesterday when I attempted to do as such It became a total shit show in terms of my lack of ability to talk to one security guy (who is so clueless he probably doesn’t know the difference between Donald Trump and a 3 legged Zebra) and building management who won’t allow residents in the office due to Covid and yet they constantly break city and building rules/requirements themselves.
Never a dull moment in the life of Grandma.
