Someone described the whistleblower situation thusly (may have even been on this group). There is a fire in a building. Someone pulls the fire alarm. The fire department shows up and sees that the building is on fire. However, they won't put out the fire unless they find the person who pulled the fire alarm.
Someone now alleges that the person who may have pulled the fire alarm may also have unpaid parking tickets. Therefore, there was no fire after all because the person who pulled the fire alarm has damaged credibility, smoldering ashes be damned.
Barely two weeks after Donald Trump took office, Eric Ciaramella – the CIA analyst whose name was recently linked in a tweet by the president and mentioned by lawmakers as the anonymous “whistleblower" who touched off Trump's impeachment – was overheard in the White House discussing with another staffer how to remove the newly elected president from office, according to former colleagues.
Sources told RealClearInvestigations the staffer with whom Ciaramella was speaking was Sean Misko. Both were Obama administration holdovers working in the Trump White House on foreign policy and national security issues. And both expressed anger over Trump’s new “America First” foreign policy, a sea change from President Obama’s approach to international affairs.
“Just days after he was sworn in they were already talking about trying to get rid of him,” said a White House colleague who overheard their conversation.
“They weren’t just bent on subverting his agenda,” the former official added. “They were plotting to actually have him removed from office.”
Misko left the White House last summer to join House impeachment manager Adam Schiff’s committee, where sources say he offered “guidance” to the whistleblower, who has been officially identified only as an intelligence officer in a complaint against Trump filed under whistleblower laws. Misko then helped run the impeachment inquiry based on that complaint as a top investigator for congressional Democrats.

Even if this were true, does it matter?
You can't hold back appropriated funds solely to get a foreign power to help you personally/politically. How it was discovered is, for the sake of the impeachment itself, irrelevant.
In terms of actual behavior? Nope.
In terms of public opinion? You bet.
This doesnt change anyone's opinion. It just confirms people's opinions who have already made up their mind and who will accept any story from any source if they feel it supports their opinion.

Very true on both sides of the fence.
About this story? No, for this story it only applies to one side.

Here's video of Trump having dinner with a guy he doesn't know, Lev Parnus. The dinner, and the video of the dinner, last over an hour. It was a small group, but Trump has so little regard for his defenders, republicans, he actually thinks they're stupid enough to believe that he doesn't know Lev Parnus. Lev Parnus, one of the people in the video with whom he's discussing the need to “get rid” of the then-U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch.
The recording, which was provided to the PBS NewsHour by a lawyer for one of the people who heard the original conversation, is said to be from a dinner in Washington, D.C., on April 30, 2018– a year before Yovanovitch was actually fired.
Joseph Bondy, an attorney for Lev Parnas, told NewsHour that Parnas, an associate of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, was at the dinner with the president and several others when Trump said he wanted Yovanovitch out.
...Igor Fruman, another associate of Giuliani’s, filmed the recording, according to PBS News. In October, Fruman was indicted along with Parnas on campaign finance charges for allegedly making straw donations and funneling foreign money into Trump’s presidential campaign.

Wouldn't that discredit this being about the 2020 election?

Sorry, I was told by the Republicans whining about the anonymity of the whistleblower and the fact that so much testimony was "things people heard Trump said" that information is only to be taken seriously if the source is identified and the information came straight from the source with no third party.
So by the GOP's own demands for sticking to precedent, I hereby declare that article a out stuff an anonymous source "heard" someone say is Fake News. Therefore, it doesnt convince me of anything. I wholly dismiss it as irrelevant.

So confirmation bias is bullshit. Noted.

Does anyone know what Trump means by "price", that Rep. Schiff hasn't yet "paid"?
