So because Jalen was dog shit in the noncon, we won’t give him credit for being our second best scorer (and best rebounder) in league play

But we’ll wax poetic about how CB keeping it at 15 or less through league play is the stuff scouts must be drooling over.

Fan logic is rad.

If only Jalen wuz a good keed with no ink too.
I'm saying evaluate the whole, not pick and choose. We've played 19 games, why limit our evaluation to 7 of them.

Has anyone said ignore the last 7 games?

18th: Ochai Agbaji 56.2
33rd: Christian Braun 51.5
44th: Remy Martin 48.5
47th: David McCormack 47.7

He's factoring in +/- which I think is pretty flawed.
How could you not factor in +/-? There's no other way to capture things like being in the right place, grabbing non-rebound 50-50 balls, etc, etc, etc.

To say it's the most important stat is certainly bunk. But including it as one factor seems like a must.

It’s not surprising Jalen’s not on draft boreds, considering HIS OWN FANBASE is sleeping on him too

Yes.

Scouts don’t care about conference play, and assess prospects based solely on how many midmajors they dunked on in December.

Well since Wilson has 1 career dunk, and it was last week, at least it's easy to figure out he has dunked on 0 midmajors

Also, when did 16 points become the cutoff for having a good game? Was it just when Braun had three 15 point games outta 7...seems kinda convenient.

Who has more 16 point games this season, or 20 pt games, or 30 point games, or 15 point games, or double digit games?

I hate +/-.
I don't factor it into Crimscores.
Too many other pieces at play - four other guys on the court.
If Ochai is scoring like a madman and you're ( mjl ) getting out of his way, your +/- is off the charts. You and he come off the court and in comes ol Qusdahl and CnB. Ochai ain't there dominating the game. Qusdahl and CnB's +/- are fucked.

Some people dig it.
I can see why that dude uses it - but, like all of these kinda metrics, there is of course subjectivity about what we measure.

Makes sense though, Dejuan's dad has only +/- to go off of.

I strongly think Jalen will play in the NBA.
Just not after this season.

And for my fourth post in a row, Qusdahl ISNT wrong.
Jalen has been hot in the B12.
( DMac pretty good too - ;) )

Crimscores:
Ochai Agbaji .691
Jalen Wilson .573
David McCormack .531
Christian Braun .485
Dejuan Harris .272
Mitch Lightfoot .260
Remy Martin .148

I'm gonna go ahead and say jalen finishes the season very strong for us. Like outside of Ochai he might be out best offensive player

I don't think +/- should be in any metric for college basketball.

Maybe NBA, but only for evaluating replacement players.

We play a small enough rotation that +/- is relevant for our team. We don't play a 1st and 2nd unit like they do in the NBA. We play 7 or 8 guys almost 100% of the minutes.

That makes it even less useful.

Maybe you get to play with Och. Or maybe it's with bad Dave or conference CB.

Maybe it's against Texas Tech. Maybe it's against Tallahassee State.

Only common situation I can ever see +/- being a little helpful is in the NBA when you are deciding between player A or player B to come in and spell Starter X.

Also, only NBA because everyone's SOS is virtually the same, and the average talent level Player 1 through 12 is pretty similar for each team.

Except he is, cause he's claiming Braun has been poor in conference play, and he hasn't, he's been down a little compared to the season as a whole.

I disagree. Especially looking at it game to game.

If DH plays 20min and Remy plays 20min. Cb Och and JW all 35ish min. Then both guys are playing a lot of their minutes with the same players. Remy isn't solely playing with 2nd unit guys. Hell, we only play 7 guys a lot of games.

I never said “poor.”

Far from it, dude!

Your Q bias is showing.

Now let’s all enjoy a cup of koolaid while we watch some CB highlights.

(Is it bad that I was kinda hoping he’d get T’d for this?)

In that situation it literally only tells you whether or not the team scored more points than the other team when just that player was on the floor for that one game. Drawing any meaningful conclusions from it is very flawed.
