I have it on in the background. I was seeing him sitting 90-91 on his FB, which usually sits in the mid-90s.

And, on cue.
Ragans threw that last ball to Lane Thomas, and Salvador Perez immediately popped up and pointed to get a trainer on the mound. Now Ragans is leaving the game. #Royals

Melendez might have just saved the game with his defense. Does he get +2 WAR if he wins game with glove and bat?

The stat you're looking for is Win Probability Added.

And it actually gets at a fascinating way to look at season awards - who was "most valuable", the guy who individually played the best? Or the guy whose individual performances bore the most on team success?

Not an obvious answer here!

I’ve never heard of that stat. It hurts my head, not because I don’t or can’t figure out what they mean/measure. But because it hurts my heart first, which leads to the headache.

Melendez and Isbel are two of the very best fielders in the league. Having Q sit them so often is malpractice. Their gloves more than compensate for hitting. Both are every day players who hit better when they play.

Right this second, our Fangraphs' playoff odds are 83.8%. That number probably takes a ten point hit* if Ragans is done.

* I would agree this SEEMS low, but the reality is that there are only about five Ragans starts left this year anyway, and over that sample size the gap between Ragans and, say, Marsh is only SO significant.

The difference between Ragans and Marsh isn't so steep when Ragans loses command, which has been a problem lately. I think Bubic may have to stand by. Definitely need a long reliever at least. Edit: I am reading leg cramp for Ragans, which maybe is heat related. Better than arm pain.

I'll wait until there's a scan (or, not). Very very very bad sign to lose velo like he did. And he's had two TJs.

I haven’t gone and looked for updates, but thought it was just cramps?
