The Jenna Ellis plea deal is paying dividends, already: (Hello, Rudy!)

Are the dominoes really beginning to fall? (I'll believe it when I see it.)

GOP activist Loraine Pellegrino has been convicted in the fake elector case. As the first person to face legal consequences in this scandal, her conviction sheds light on the broader investigation into fraudulent election claims.

Good, fuck this guy:

Man who violently fought cops gets 2nd-longest Jan. 6 sentence: 20 years

David N. Dempsey came to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the U.S. Capitol well-prepared and well-experienced in committing violence at political rallies. He wore a bulletproof tactical vest, a black helmet and a gaiter to obscure most of his face, and he brought a spare gaiter and shirt that he changed into during the riot.

Before climbing up over other rioters on the steps of the Capitol, he gave an interview in front of the gallows constructed nearby and rattled off the names of prominent Democrats he hated. “They don’t need a jail cell,” Dempsey said. “They need to hang from these.”

Dempsey then repeatedly attacked police in the lower West Terrace tunnel for more than an hour, throwing poles and deploying bear spray at the line of officers protecting the Capitol. He used bear spray directly inside the mask of one officer, who testified that he thought he might die, and used a crutch to smash another officer’s head, giving him a concussion...

The felony convictions just keep piling up for team trumpty.
A former county clerk in Colorado who had become an icon among election deniers was convicted of election interference Monday for a breach of her county’s voting systems.

Tina Peters, the former clerk of Mesa County, was found guilty of four felonies after a lengthy criminal trial. She was cleared of three lesser charges.

Prosecutors alleged Peters stole a county employee’s security badge to help a man associated with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell gain access to the county’s voter systems to assist Lindell’s false conspiracies about the validity of the 2020 election results.

In the trial’s closing arguments, prosecutor Janet Drake argued Peters allowed a man posing as a county employee to take copies of the election system’s hard drive before and after a software upgrade in May 2021.

Drake argued Peters was “fixated” on a desire to be a “hero” and to impress Lindell, one of the most notable election-denying conspiracy theorists.

“The defendant was a fox guarding the henhouse. It was her job to protect the election equipment, and she turned on it and used her power for her own advantage,” Drake said in arguments, according to The Associated Press.

Peters lost her 2022 primary to keep the clerk post.

Peters is the first local official to be convicted related to conspiracy theories surrounding 2020 election results. Election analysts have raised warnings that local officials may again play a key role in the 2024 election, refusing to certify election results if former President Trump does not win.
How many more will sacrifice themselves for the orange weirdo?

Dunno where else to discuss

But…

Wut?

"If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we'll meet the next time in Venezuela, because it'll be a far safer place to meet than our country," Trump said to Musk. "OK, so we'll go. You and I will go, and we'll have a meeting and dinner in Venezuela."

This is exactly where to discuss.

For example, if any of us here were found to be in possession of the sorts of materials that are the subject of just one of Trump's criminal indictments, we would have prepared for trial in a cell. We most certainly would not have our passports.

Trump, who is a convicted felon and is still subject to multiple ongoing felony prosecutions, is openly telling you that he intends to flee justice before it can catch up to him.

But because of his special big guy rules, crickets.

Jack Smith Is Back with a New Trump Indictment, and This One Side-Elbows the Supreme Court

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/p ... ndictment/
Comes now Jack Smith with the fifth indictment brought against the former president* by one prosecutor or another. (New League Record!) This is by far the most interesting one, because not only does it take aim against El Caudillo del Mar-a-Lago, but it also throws a nice drive-by elbow at the carefully manufactured conservative majority on the Supreme Court and its misbegotten decision on presidential immunity. You wanted me to distinguish between official and unofficial acts? Smith says through this latest indictment. Fine, here I am doing what you asked and still charging him with the same four crimes, and another grand jury has agreed with me. From the BBC:
The new charging document - which was slimmed down from 45 to 36 pages - re-works the language of the allegations to respond to last month’s ruling on presidential immunity by the Supreme Court. It argues Trump acted as a private citizen - and not as president - when he undertook the alleged scheme to sway the election. “The defendant had no official responsibilities related to the certification proceeding, but he did have a personal interest as a candidate in being named the winner of the election,” reads one new line in the indictment. Another new line refers to a lawsuit filed by Trump’s campaign in Georgia. The old language said the suit was “filed in his name”, but the updated indictment says it was “filed in his capacity as a candidate for president”.

(In an effort to conform to a SCOTUS decision that he has to believe is preposterous, Smith dropped any reference to Jeffrey Clark, the bobo that the former president* planned to install as attorney general as an essential part of the white-shoe wing of the attempted coup.)
The fresh indictment also drops the claim that Trump tried to pressure DoJ officials to work to overturn his defeat. The high court ruled Trump’s direction to justice officials was not illegal. The special counsel’s office said the superseding indictment had been presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in the case.

(If you remember Watergate, you may remember the Oval Office tape in which President Nixon orders his chief of staff to use the CIA to turn off the FBI investigation of the break-in. This is the famous "Smoking Gun" tape. Under the terms of the Supreme Court presidential immunity decision, not only would this gun not be smoking, but it wouldn’t even be a gun.)

Between this new indictment and the appeal down in Florida of Judge Aileen Cannon’s ludicrous dismissal of the Pool Shed Papers case, we now have proof enough that Jack Smith is still on the case. And apparently it has dawned on the former president*, who bleated out five solos on the sad trombone that is his social media presence. A sample:
No Presidential Candidate, or Candidate for any Office, has ever had to put up with all of this Lawfare and Weaponization directly out of the Office of a Political Opponent. They’ve Weaponized local D.A.s and Attorney Generals, and anybody else that will listen, to Interfere with the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election – Never been done before. This is now Kamala’s Weaponized System against her Political Opponent. All of these Scams will fail, just as Deranged Jack’s Hoax in Florida has been fully dismissed, and we will win the Most Important Election in the History of our Country on November 5th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

... This travesty is now on Comrade Kamala Harris, who is actively pushing it, rather than immediately calling for its dismissal, as should be done. This is for Third World Countries and Banana Republics, not for the U.S.A.! As Jack Smith knows, the whole case should be thrown out and dismissed on Presidential Immunity grounds, as already ruled unequivocally by the U.S. Supreme Court. Smith rewrote the exact same case in an effort to circumvent the Supreme Court Decision. The people of our Country will see what is happening with all of these corrupt lawsuits against me, and will REJECT them by giving me an overwhelming Victory on November 5th for President of the United States.…

… For them to do this immediately after our Supreme Court Victory on Immunity and more, is shocking. I’ve also been informed by my attorneys, that you’re not even allowed to bring cases literally right before an Election – A direct assault on Democracy! This is an unprecedented abuse of the Criminal Justice System. The case has to do with “Conspiracy to Obstruct the 2020 Presidential Election,” when they are the ones that did the obstructing of the Election, not me. They cheated on the Election, and they go after me for “cheating on the Election.” Interestingly, this comes at the exact same time as Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook has admitted to concealing massive amounts of information, such as Hunter Biden’s Laptop from Hell, which is a direct acknowledgment that the 2020 Presidential Election was MANIPULATED and RIGGED by the DOJ. What they are doing now is the single greatest sabotage of our Democracy in History….

In an effort to resurrect a “dead” Witch Hunt in Washington, D.C., in an act of desperation, and in order to save face, the illegally appointed “Special Counsel” Deranged Jack Smith, has brought a ridiculous new Indictment against me, which has all the problems of the old Indictment, and should be dismissed IMMEDIATELY. His Florida Document Hoax Case has been completely dismissed. This is merely an attempt to INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION, and distract the American People from the catastrophes Kamala Harris has inflicted on our Nation, like the Border Invasion, Migrant Crime, Rampant Inflation, the threat of World War III, and more….
Glad to see he’s taking this all so well.
A very good question that might be asked directly, and pressed directly until Trump answers directly, is "Do you think Joe Biden should be subject to criminal prosecution, if he directs the Department of Justice to, for example, release the video and transcripts of Vice President Pence's testimony to various grand juries?"

A very good thing Biden might do would be to sign an executive order that (however it might be accomplished) opts the office of the President out from hiding behind the immunity that was recently and newly conferred upon the office.

And then a very good thing Harris might do would be to pledge not to revoke that order, and in fact to work with Congress to codify it into law.

And then a very good thing Harris/Walz might do is relentlessly hound Trump/Vance to confirm or deny that they would revoke that order.

Good idea Fish. I know we were kicking around ideas after the great SCOTUS faceplant. This one occurred to me as well, but my idea was an EO telling people to ignore certain decisions. Overruling one that extended one's own authority would be sublime.

Jury: Fish is guilty of three dozen felonies.

Judge: Fish, sentencing is on Tuesday.

Fish: Yo, you can't do that, I have a job interview on Thursday.

Judge: Fuck you, here's the handcuffs.

But it's the pubs who suffer from a two-tiered justice system.

I found watching his attorneys squirm in the background while he rambles and rants to be the most interesting part. The guy to his right at one point starts rapid blinking, he is visibly uncomfortable. He knows his client is just making shit worse but trumpty plumpty wants to express his weird gland and his lack of self control is making the attorney nervous as the weird is excreted all over the room.

The guy has fucking lost it, and the rubes want him to have the nuclear football again.

He only wants your fuckin money, and a few hours of fawning praise a week. trumpty and his rube grievance cult should just get a big room at a Holiday Inn Convention center somewhere ( if the Four Seasons Lawn Care parking lot is not available) and leave the rest of us out of this death cult thing that have goin on. Nobody wants to listen to this fuckwit dotard ramble on and on about nothing.

Yeah, the "lawyers" were clearly squirming as he firmly built the next case against himself. It was an interesting pretzel of both perjury and defamation.

The "lawyer" on the right, I believe, was fighting back tears as he noticed his career slinking toward the exit.

Alina Habba knows at this point that what is left of her Pre-Onlyfans career has been reduced to doing pay-per-whine pressers for Orange Julius.

Your honor I would like to read this statement by the defendant. Convicted felon Donald Trump embraced the January 6 insurrection during the presidential debate Tuesday, calling rioters at the capitol, "we."

"It's a disgrace. But we (referring to the insurrectionists) didn't do -- this group of people that have been treated so badly," Trump said.
But your honor, that was sarcasm.

I believe there were also admissions last night that in between Biden’s inauguration and the start of the Ukraine war, Trump was conducting shadow (anti-)diplomacy.

Which, by the way: would not even say he wants Ukraine to win. Would not commit not to sign a national abortion ban.

For someone who very OBVIOUSLY has no problem lying, it tells you who’s on the other end of the vise his shriveled nuts are in: Putin and the religious right.
