The way to attract more believers is to insist on not holding any beliefs.
You're right, of course.

And, why argue with success?

It’s funny when people we disagree with philosophically die a painful premature death.

Well, at least he died doing what he loved....cramming Jeebus down the throats of folks who most likely didn't ask for it.

I have a theory that you really need to start early telling babies the story of Jeebus.....get it in there before the soft spot closes in their heads.

my wife’s grandmother, in her mid80s, still believes this is all a bunch of nothing, and that even if it isn’t, god will save her

not social distancing, not stopping her 4-times/week church functions

it’s sad, and probably stressing my wife out more than anything else

Where does she live and why is her church having 4 times a week functions?
Someone should give her church a call and tell them they spoke with God this morning - and God told them to tell the church members they need to stop congregating or he/she/it is going to teach them a tough lesson and take out members of the church on his/her/it's terms.

my parents are the same way: two boomers operating with the same stubborn mindset that the important thing is they don't concede a thing from their day-to-day lives: still going to their golf scrambles, still going to their patio parties, still downplaying the whole thing. "It's just the flu, everyone is overreacting, you ever notice these things always happen during an election year?"

My brother is freaked. From the other side of the country he asked the parentals how they feel about the idea of him attending their funeral via skype. That only made them dig their feet in, as if the real struggle now is the competition for who gets the told-you-so.

I thought about making the point to my parents that they're once again exhibiting the unilateral stubbornness that has strained the family for years and caused both their kids to move across the country away from them, but what's that gonna do at this time? I've tried to make that point before, and all it got me was to the other side of the country.

There are still golf courses open? What the hell?

They closed them all in the Chicago area. And the lakefront. And all public parks.

I have no problem with people questioning their government - I encourage it. But there's a tipping point somewhere. I still have people in my circle of friends who think this is overblown and unnecessary. They'll think that until someone they know directly contracts it.

Falwell, Jr. is all about money, and like every other college out here, if there are no students on campus, money is being lost. It just shows he’s greedy and selfish, which anyone who’s spent ten minutes around Liberty University already knows.
