This is a question probably for Plano since he's a car/boat guy, but why does Audi and other German cars put those damn headlight spray nozzles on the front bumper? They are annoying and always fail, then all your windshield washer fluid drains out. I've had both the drivers and passenger sides replaced in the last year, under my warranty, but my deductible is still $100. Just annoying, never understood their purpose.

I never had an issue with them failing.

the more "features" the more likely it is to break. I miss the simpler cars that you could basically climb in the engine and actually work on shit

All it does is spray on them, there's no wiper. Most of the spray ends up on the hood...lol.

Yeah, you typically won't see wipers on a poly surface.
They definitely clean more than nothing.

The only time I ever had spray on the hood was at low/no speed

Washer fluid also has ice-melting properties, and I've found the headlight-spray things useful in the winter.

never once, not one time, have I ever thought, man I wish I could spray off my headlights right now...no way can that wait until I get to a hose.

Yeah. I googled and I guess it's a requirement to have those spray headlight nozels in Germany, so when they ship them to the US, its standard. Guessing all Audis, Mercedes and BMW's have them. I've only owned Audis as far as German cars. Some US cars might have them as well.
