Yeah to be fair, golf courses might want people to not drink and drive on the course. Be engaged when driving. No phones or hammering beers. Can drink on the tee or whatever, but when actually driving on the course, you are engaged as you can possibly be.
I don't know what sport you're describing, sir, but it is not
golf.

I mean, by the letter of the law, isn’t it illegal to consume alcohol while driving a golf cart?

Probably varies a lot state by state, and on local levels, especially considering in many cases you're on private property.

I mean. How hard is it to drive a golf cart. I mean, yea, ive crashed them. But that was idiocy caused by drinking, not drinking while driving..... Im not drunk, im just exhausted from being up all night drinking.

The place I play the most has a hill that has claimed many a cart. The carts now come with GPS handcuffs, where the cart is disabled should the driver depart the path on this particular hole.

If you have kids your wife is a saint.
Haha yes 2 of them. And yes she's a Saint. She knows its my passion though so she's always supportive. My dad golf almost as much as I do. We are definitely a golfing family.

First round in a while today. 84. Wedge play let me down and put one drive OB. Not a bad day.

Yeah, fuck off. If I finish the front with the same ball, it's a good day.

Same thing happened to me when I play last week. Worse round in a while. Drive OB and I hit all my irons pretty fat. Would hit the ground behind the ball instead of ball first. Everything came up 10 yards short. So instead of a 10 footer for birdie, it was for par and I didn't make many 1 putts. 87. Yuck.

Man. I used to be like that. But I swung as hard as I could and my drives would spray everywhere. I also finally just started being conservative. For example. Most par 5's, I won't reach in 2. So what I do is layup to 120 and have an easy wedge coming into the green and hopefully stick it for a 10-20 birdie putt instead of a 60 yard shot that could be chunked or fly over the green because I don't have a club for that.
So I play for the clubs I have instead of getting as close as I can on every single shot. I'd much rather layup if possible.
Disclaimer, this is for when I'm solo only. Scramble or something like that = Balls to the fucking wall and I'm hitting driver off the deck and all that shit. I'm going for a 300+ yard drive if partner(s) are in the fairway. I throw out all my principles of golf in scramble play.

I used to be like that. Then I got talked into taking like 1/4 swings (which did not help accuracy, and murdered length/loft), and it's taken two (2) years to get back to a full swing. I hit a drive 280 the other day, and nearly shit myself.
The good thing is that my short game (100 yards in) has improved dramatically. Hoping to be in the mid-80s by the end of the summer.
Could make me a monster in the tournaments that have been moved back because of covid - my index will still sit somewhere around 20.

I feel you, it took a long time to get my game under control. Like 10 fucking years.
A couple of important notes.
1. The course I played yesterday was pretty easy. Very little water, OB or sand. Fairly flat as well.
2. I’m a very good scrambler and an above average putter. I can almost always salvage a hole and prevent a double bogey.

On #2 - the good thing about being bad at golf, and playing the same two courses regularly, is that I know
every damned trouble spot on them.

Same. And there are sooooo many time I still hit there and have to scramble like hell to get a par at best.

Yeah 100 and in is still the death of me. I need to just pony up and get a good 56 degree wedge for that 100 and in-ish range. I'm tired of 1/2 and 3/4 swinging my PW for those 100 and under shots. I do have a SW that I found on the course and no one claimed so course called me back to keep it. But I only feel good with that club out of the sand. Not a good grass club for me.
Just tough being a lefty to find good clubs on a good deal.

I've never been more excited for the Charles schwab challenge in my life.
No tiger but just about all the big names that live in the United States will be there.
Jordan Speith is a member here. Hasn't played well, but has done well here in the past. I've got him in many of my draftkings lineups.
Rory was hot heading into the layoff.
Rahm can become world number 1 with a win.
This course does not favor long hitters. Lots of shorter hitters on the list of former winners.
I like rory regardless, but wouldn't be shocked if someone like Webb Simpson wins.
My heavy picks for DK lineups are Rory, Bryson, Webb, Speith, and Ryan Palmer who is also a member and does well in the Texas wind.
Golf is back!

Wonder when/if golf is going to suspend play again. Couple more positives today and a few more withdrawals. Oddly enough, all the positives are guys who left the site last week and didn't take the PGA charter flight. What's even more odd to me is these guys testing negative when they get to the course, and then positive a day or 2 later. Should be able to trace that pretty quickly.
