You have a guy that can clearly coach football and you know he is going to grind for years. In those ways, it is perhaps the most promising hire we've made post-Mangino.

Only question is if his old balls er school style can translate to P5 and particularly this rebuild.

Worked for Mangino, in an arguably-tougher Big XII.

And lord knows we've tried every other archetype since.

I'm pretty doom & gloom when it comes to KU football, but I really am pretty excited for this new chapter; I do think given the timing and all the other crazy stuff going on, they made the right hire and I really like the staff that Leipold has put together.

Pretty good point. The only differences I see is that the recruits are now Gen Z and Leipold won't have the BCS Championship ring to flash, and the program is just so badly beat up. I think he at the least pulls us out of the historically bad losing records.

Which is just fine! We need some competitive 5-7 football. Just something to make Saturdays in Lawrence fun again.

I don't need 8-4, though it would be nice. Just give us competitive games, a Big 12 road win and a bowl like every 3rd year. We're not that needy here.

If Leipold is something like 24-48 after his first contract I'll be happy as hell.

That being said, with respect to InfiniteJ, I'm going to expect better than than winning% when contract 2 kicks in.

Like what KU has been doing ever since Goff has taken the lead. Pretty transparent in terms of college athletics.

Very smart to build this kind of engagement (especially because, for all of his obvious strengths, Leipold just won't be out front building bridges with fans himself).

This should be kind of interesting. Wonder if they might not spend time laying out how the summer program and fall camp is going to go.

He did the Jayhawker Podcast thing, or whatever it is called that Wayne Simien hosts. Nice little peek into what makes him tick. He's very direct, he doesn't veer off and go on tangents or anything like that. He answers the question, in a direct fashion with little to no extra fluff.

Damn, this is what Kansas Football needs. Let Self, Goff, Stuckey and others lead the charge in trying to hype up Kansas Football. Leipold probably won't go out and play bags with students, probably won't have them come on the field in spring game for a competition. He's here to remain focused on the task at hand and that's to win.

He knows this year will be a struggle. Basically admitted as such. But damnit, this is the guy Kansas Football needs.

Ianello is here. But off-field role. Gross.

Simpson, the LB coach, seems to be recruiting coordinator.

Ianello is the "general manger". WTF. I hate it.

Peterson who was safeties coach last year is an analyst.

DE coach from Buffalo last year is an analyst as well.

Listening to the OC has me excited. I really like the way he connects and describes his system. I believe the way he put it was the offense is a multiple set pro style offense that uses spread components and concepts.

Expect a shit ton of wide zone. Fuchs is incredible at teaching it and Kotelnicki runs it a ton.

Man just makes me think Pooka would have been incredible with wide zone.

Kotelnicki will be in press box all the time during games. Joked that wife said he has a face for radio so he better get off the TV.

I like wide zone especially if you have the backs that can run off of one initial cut and lineman that can get out and move. I hated watching KU running Pooka up the middle ten times over and over like he was banger and we had an offensive line that could maul and move piles.
