Watched some more UNT videos of Bean, and I think an important part here is going to be Gardner being effective and taking pressure off of Bean. And O-Line, of course, but that's always an issue. Big 12 athletes can rough Bean up pretty quickly, and the arm still looks suspect to me. We have to have an effective ground game.

Yes, everything this year is going to revolve around the running game. If we can move the ball moderately well behind an improved O-line and a strong stable of running backs, Bean won't be asked to through the ball much.

Side note, I heard a couple people say this week the biggest hint that Bean was about to take over as QB1 was the fact that Trevor Wilson showed up as a starting WR on the first depth chart. Apparently Bean and Wilson work together all the time and have started developing a strong connection.

Oh it's 100% reliant on the run game and the OL.

The main difference is that Bean won't be a sitting duck back there. He'll move around and be just fine. But this staff can't, and shouldn't have many designed QB runs. But if they fake a wide zone left and roll Bean to the right and nobody is there, he will just take off and go.

I think the system does kind of call for a game manager QB--but Kendrick is just too old and too short.

I am so tired of seeing other team's QBs do this to our defense. I'm ready to see our QB do it to someone else.

That's fine, but I do wonder if the staff is wanting an athlete back there more to go against the likes of P5 defenses.

If Bean can get you 2 TD/INT ratio. Like say 12 TDs and 6 INTs, along with his running ability, he far surpasses anything Kendrick would do.

Are we going to have a guess the score for KU football games this year? I know it can be brutal but throwing it out there.

NewtonHawk11 wrote: Wed Sep 01, 2021 11:02 am However your comments regarding QBs, I've heard the staff loves Hawley's leadership. They are working on a hitch he has in his throwing motion. He'll sit for a couple of years before being a major factor in any QB competition. Easters on the other hand is apparently just plain awful. Have heard some say/write that it won't be a surprise if he transfers at season's end to a lower FBS team or even a top end FCS team. He's slow, he can't make a lot of the throws the staff is asking and he is a quiet guy. That's a recipe for disaster for a freshman QB.
Yikes, I hadn't heard that so disregard my above comments. I know this staff is going hard after Avery Johnson, a class of 2023 QB out of Maize, and he has an impressive list of schools that are after him. Maybe that's why. If Bean has the job for a couple years, then this staff is high on Daniels, we have a little bit of time to keep finding the next QBs down the road, but I don't want to think too far ahead about that.
Unless Johnson completely blows up nationally, it'll come down to KU and K-State.

So I was curious and listened to Stricker's podcast. He is saying Bean will be the starter but be prepared for Daniels to play Friday as well.

I'll toss another note from his podcast on here is well and we'll see what sticks come Friday night.

Word is Colin Grunhard has been a little banged up and there's a small chance he doesn't play tomorrow. If Grunhard is out, Ford will play RG and Cabledue will play RT. He also noted that if Grunhard is good to go, despite what the depth chart says, Ford would get the start at RT.

Except for Jesse snubbing my Vikes as an NFL team that runs heavy wide zone.

Posted this already, but Cook is not considered a top 5 RB without the zone scheme and the Vikes O-Line is always ranked in the 30's by PFF.

Well it might be so bad that it gets postponed/canceled, which would suck.

But, no weather advantage for fan attendance. Bad fan, I know, but even a heavy rain will keep me from going.

inclement weather is he ultimate equalizer...for better or worse

(at least that’s what my HS football coach used to tell us)

It's honestly not the biggest of deals. It can hurt mentally weak teams. Like when Kansas played at a rain in OU or on the frozen field in Ames. They didn't want to be there and they lost each game by like 40.

Next Week's opponent Coastal Carolina is up 38-0 a minute into the second half. Pencil that in as an L
