Yeah, he'll come close to giving up as many baskets as he makes...I'm just glad he can rebound the ball.

Like when we play defense
Can't say that until you determine who they replace him with.

Self needs to figure out what to do on D. Offense doesn't matter if you can't defend the pick and roll.

Three final four teams last season seemed to have it figured out - how to defend with an immobile center.

Although his individual skills are good enough to win awards honoring an individual, it’s yet to be seen that those skills impact a team’s outcome playing this team sport.

Phuck this guy in totality until other results are shown.

Just because they had big centers doesn't mean they are immobile. Clingan is projected to be an early draft pick and viewed as a prospect that can play impactful defense at the next level

Edey will also be drafted probably later in the 1st. He's bigger than hunter and more of a defensive presence

Not sure how to explain NC state and burns tho. I think if burns is actually pretty athletic, he's just a chonker. But NC states entire run was an enigma, they wouldn't have even made the tournament and someone won 5 games in 5 day to qualify and then made the final 4. Epitomizing the craziness of college basketball

Back 2 Lawrence is right. Hunter has good skills, but does he impact winning?? So far he hasn't really

Last season we built around hunter (poorly) and our play style was one of the worst team products I've seen in awhile. Subpar defense and a slower pace offense that struggled to score at times

Maybe we have better defensive pieces to put around him this time. I guarantee Bill will be working and tweaking all summer to come up with a scheme that works.

Better shooters will also help on O.

maybe coach doesn’t value defense any more.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with some of you?

"but does he impact winning?? So far he hasn't really"
REALLY?

"yet to be seen that those skills impact a team’s outcome"?
REALLY?

Tell that shit to Kentucky. 27 pts / 21 reb
Tell that shit to Tenn. 17 pts / 20 reb
Tell that shit to OU. 20 pts / 16 reb AND 24 pts / 14 reb / 5 blk
Tell that shit to TCU. 30 pts / 11 reb
Tell that shit to UConn. 15 pts / 9 reb / 4 blk
Tell that shit to Houston. 20 pts / 8 reb
Tell that shit to Samford. 19 pts / 20 reb / 4 blk

Better yet, tell that shit to Bill Self and then see/listen to what he has to say to you.

As painful as it is watching him play defense, the worst part of him coming back is to be subjected to the din, the cacophony of whining that will ensue, despite his other attributes as evidenced by Gutter's stats above.

Hopefully the addition of Clemence and Bidunga will help cauterize the wound?

I’d rather be a fly on the wall for the last season in the coach’s meetings, so I’d know the truth, rather than what ‘coach would tell me’.

there seems to be a lot of short-term memory loss re: last year’s roster bad luck (x3)

though, perhaps it’s just willful ignorance

I don’t like HD’s on-court personality. This leads to me not seeing his stats and influence the way those of you with this ‘short-term’ memory loss. Or willful negligence of his behavior. I dunno.

He’s just not enjoyable to watch as a Kansas player, IMO. Yep, gutter, that and 2.50 (or whatever it is now) will get you a bus pass.
