Hunter thought it was 590 home wins for Coach?

Just one of my pet peeves. I feel the same way about a defensive player running in front of a driver and planting his feet at the last second for a charge. Both cases, the player trying to create contact is rewarded.
So true. This is what I meant about 50-50 calls going their way too often. They hit the defender on purpose forcing a shot and were bailed out. Much rather ignore that contact.

I have to imagine he just messed up the order of the games and then a bad effort at lying.

That was my go to defense move, but then in JV the refs would call reach in foul 75% of the time even though I’d never even touch the guy. Like how is that a foul?

The Jayhawks are now 24-5 vs. AP top-10 teams in Allen Fieldhouse under Self. That's insane. KU fans really bring their A game when big teams come to town.

so since I missed most of the second half donut cuz the feed crapped out...

how, exactly, did we blow a 20 point lead?

Part of it was we stopped shooting 60%, which was to be expected. They hit some shots. Refs called a million fouls. DH got in foul trouble.

At the pace the game was played, had to figure they'd make a run. They are a good team.

Anyone else kinda sorta nervous that going up 20 and then almost losing looked like last year, except last year often we could omit the word almost?

RE: Fouls

the fouls were pretty evenly called, tbf. They drove to the hoop repeatedly, and we fouled everytime. It's what a known weakness of this team (and last year's), and UNC was exploiting it. Great gameplan and adjustment.

But as my just posted post indicates, it does raise a definite orange flag.

I think the game was called far too tight.
I like a much more physical game.
UNC got to the line for a lot of weak contact -- but I guess it's early in the season so you'll expect that.

i for sure like refs to let it go more, but the game last night was consistently called tight.

Carolina's elite backcourt played like they are capable and started hitting shots and driving the lane to draw a ton of fouls. Mix in that they did better on the boards and the KU offense went stagnant for a bit and the lead washed out pretty quickly.

I agree with that assessment. They drove and forced contact a lot. Other fans get pissed when we do it to them so it doesn't bother me. KU needs to be a little better moving their feet and not using their hands. This was a great game to get on tape for them to watch and learn from.

Sounds like Carolina recognized the game was called tight, and adjusted the gameplan to that. Damn near worked for em too.

No, I just think that a game between two Top 10 teams should be expected to be close, no matter what order the baskets are scored in. Good teams and coaches adjust at halftime and Carolina adjusted. Kansas is also a great team with great coaches and they adjusted to the adjustment. Self is one of the best end-game coaches in the sport and KU scored 9 of the last 11 points scored in the game to win. All the 20 point lead does is show us what KU looks like when they go on an extended spurt.

If you have great guards then you should call plays for them and utilize their skills. I don't think it was an adjustment to the refs; just a focus on doing what they do best to dig out of a hole.
