"Gatekeeping" on social media refers to the act of individuals or groups intentionally withholding information, access, or participation within a community, often by setting strict criteria or standards to decide who is considered "in the know" and who is not, essentially controlling who can be part of a specific online space or discussion; it can be seen as a way to maintain exclusivity or authority within a community.
Illy, this is precisely what you seem to be doing, or trying to do, with this "analysis is poor," "lack basic understanding," "doesn't watch much CBB" sorts of takes.

I didn't set any strict standards for participation. I simply evaluated the validity of your opinions, and determined they're not worth much, due to the lack of expertise you have demonstrated over the years.
So, no. That's not gatekeeping.

Whether we bench KJ or not, I think we are in trouble.
Probably a 10 loss team.

Junior Reporter Carly: If you could coach any basketball player, who would it be?
Coach Self: There's some great ones...Joel, Lebron, KD...but I think I would probably enjoy coaching Dajuan Harris as much as anybody out there.
Carly: You've done that for like 10 years now.
Self: we have with Dajuan, and we're trying to get an 11th year of eligibility if that's possible.

"Trying something new" isn't a valid reason bench your best players.
And we're "trying something new" nearly every single game. We've played 10 guys in close games more than i ever remember.
Self IS 100% trying everything this season in my opinion. He's giving guys plenty of leash. They're just not very good and 5min more per game isn't going to be a magical fix to their ineffectiveness.
20 minutes a game of KJ's time should be split between Bidunga and Griffen.
The biggest issue we have is that neither Griffen or Storr are actually big enough or athletic enough to play significant minutes at the 4. They can't rebound or defend well enough.
And frankly, neither shoot well enough to make it a net positive to bench KJ. Which is why Self hasn't done it.
Just a reminder that Zeke Mayo averages more rebounds a game than KJ Adams and Griffen averages just 1.3 rebounds a game less than KJ despite playing 10 less minutes a game.

I want DH gone yesterday. Slow. Soft. Can’t shoot. Och, CB, and Gradey made him look good, but without players of that caliber drawing defensive heat and keeping him from having to shoot, he’s pretty darned mediocre.

He might not be fast and he isn't a good shooter but what's this soft thing?
What specifically is soft about him?

Sorry. I've been familiar with Bill Self for almost 25 years. I have a really hard time believing he'd be so fond of a soft player that doesn't really deserve it.
Being a DH fan serves absolutely no purpose for Self publicly. He's not selling Wiggins and his ability to develop or Embiid and his rise. Or his ability to turn Morris twins into decade long NBA vets.
Self's love for DH is 100% genuine, earned, and free from taint. A dying thing in CBB.

For example:
I truly think Hunter Dickinson loves Bill Self, KU, AFH, etc. But I also think $2mil bought that and the love came extra.

The way he plays is soft.
Good guards often drive fearlessly into traffic. DH does rarely.
Good guards drive without regard for contact, or even purposefully anticipate and even create contact. DH comparatively shies away from contact.
Good guards get to the rim, like all the way to the rim, for higher percentage layups. DH usually settles for lower percentage runners and floaters and awkward off-balance shots. He often makes layups look much more difficult and complicated than they're supposed to be.
Good guards get to the free throw line often. DH does not. (For real, he's only attempted 157 FTs in his entire 5-years-eligible career so far. Sherron, Tyshawn, Frank, Devonte, Devon all bested that number in a single season.)
And that's just his offensive game. Defensively, he's not exactly a physical bully, even tho he gets steals and disrupts passing lanes.

my initial reaction to the Junior interview comment was, Self's gotta be trolling the fans.
These two comments confirm it for me.
