Poking around, we may opt for Mint. It's Intuit, and gets a lot of praise.

I might also want to add that I first used Quicken because I received the install CD in a bundle, free, with a new computer I bought around 2001. I was amazed at how much time I saved doing my year end books--filling by hand pages of a ledger that was up to 30 columns wide, then adding all columns correctly/accurately for my year end finances. I've just reinstalled the program on each subsequent computer I've purchased.

Jeez you guys, no need to post questions here that would be better off googling, let’s try to keep this thread on topic.

Could have started a new thread but.... But I don't know. I'm just going to ask 5 questions on this one.

1) "Bathroom scales" suck.
Doesn't really matter what type of "bathroom scale" I use, I find they are inaccurate.
We can send people to the moon and bring them back, we have people who perform brain surgery, so why is it so difficult to manufacture an accurate body weight scale for under let's say $200?

2) Construction work.
There are guys hanging 60 floors/stories in the air outside my living room windows right now.
I have no idea what type of life insurance they have but it better be good.
If I witness a person fall and die DUE TO NEGLIGENCE and I am legitimately traumatized from it, can I sue the construction company (obviously I can try) and would I get any money?

3) Temperature in my home.
The building I live in has a fucked up HVAC system. Often there is air-conditioning blasting in the hallway when it's cold outside. Because of it, my apartment gets considerably colder. Perhaps as much as 15 to 20 degrees colder. Therefore, it's often the difference between my feeling the need to put on heat - or not. Which costs me money.
I have no idea what may or may not be in my lease agreement but if I went to building management and said that it costs me an extra 100 dollars a month in "electricity" and I want to be compensated for it, do I have a "case"?

4) What would Jesus do.....
You are in an elevator with someone who is not wearing a mask. They sneeze or cough within 6 feet of you without covering their nose or mouth.
a) What if anything do YOU say to them?
b) What if anything would Jesus say to them?

5) Vacation/s
This will be the first time in the last 50 years that I will not be taking a vacation in either December, January, or February. Needless to say, I'm not happy.
Will YOU be taking a vacation within the next 3 months? If so, where to?

So I wake up to a totally random text:

“Amy get ahold of me it’s dad he may not make it through the night gurl I’m sorry”

uhhhh...I’m not Amy, you got the wrong number, but sorry to hear the bad news, also do you have any full body pics of Amy?

This isn’t the first time I’ve had such a message. It’s pretty tragic, on a number of levels.

It’s the obvious bad news being delivered. And also the apparent distant or estranged family, who doesn’t even have some loved one’s number saved about it.

And the fact this has happened more than once?

Why can’t it just be like “hey Amy your dry cleaning is ready to be picked up”

I'm walking near Northwestern Hospital. Car stops at a red light in the middle of a crosswalk.
I admit my immediate thought was - asshole.
Guy walks up to the driver and starts yelling at him and swearing at him.
I look and see it's an old man with an old woman who appears to possibly be a cancer victim. She was pretty much bald, wearing a scarf, looked frail, etc. They both looked frightened.
I said to the guy losing his shit - "Hey, come on, it's an old man, no need to go off on him like that, just walk around him".
Guy's response - "FUCK YOU" at me.
I say, "Ok, fuck me. Go head and take your anger out on me and please leave them alone".
Out of nowhere, a HUGE guy (not sure his race matters but he was Black) comes up to the guy and tells him to "GET STEPPING".
Guy basically looked like he shit in his pants and - got stepping.
I told the Black guy - "nice work".
He just shook his head in disgust and walked away.

Not too sure why I felt the need to share that but my emotions and feelings were all over the place during that entire interaction. Sadness, anger, frustration, fear, happiness, gratitude, relief, etc.
As pissed as I was at the guy who started up with the old man, in hindsight I say to and ask myself - who the fuck knows? Maybe he's going through some really rough stuff of his own and just "lost it".
Even if so, it still doesn't really excuse his behavior.

You run into more... stuff.
Good on you for stepping in, good on the big guy for backing you up.
Not sure why we can't get along and forgive each other.

Was going to post this on the Chicago thread but felt it would get more views here....
I try not to laugh at other people's misfortune/s but admit this did indeed make me laugh.

Telecomms infrastructure hit? No idea. But thats what got damaged, cell and emergency services out yesterday. Why else announce the bomb and do it early morning on Christmas with less people around..obviously killing people wasnt the goal. But why the reported gunfire before the explosion though? Its all wierd. Maybe it was a car bomb gone wrong that got interrupted and detonated. Who knows....we will never knownall the detials.
