If we bench KJ, we could save the season. Our defense will get a little worse, but pray our offense improves enough to make it a net gain

It could create enough spacing to justify the hunter dickinson era if we can get all the perimeter guys hitting shots and leave KJ on the bench out of the way

I don't see how Bidunga increases spacing rather than decreasing since he's inferior to KJ at ballhandling and passing, but it could do other things.

Maybe HD moves off the block and plays more on the perimeter in an old school high-low look with Bidunga posting.

That's what I was thinking. You basically play Hunter as the 4 on offense, which sucks because it negates his biggest strength (inside scoring)... but might be worth it.

Yes. Could be a net gain. Especially if HD starts hitting 1 or 2 3s a game. His 3pt shot looks good.

Also could confuse defenses, or at minimum makes them make a choice: put a smaller guy on HD on the perimeter (which makes it easier for him to shoot AND easier to throw in inside via the high-low) OR put the smaller guy on Bidunga which makes it easier for him to score.

I think it could work.

I would be interested to see a shot chart of HD's 3 point makes and attempts. It seems like he hits them at a higher rate from straight on but misses a huge majority of the ones he takes from the wings. I cringe every time I see him take one of those.

I know he's not here for free. I'm seeing numbers around $500k. You can pay him $3k+ for an appearance or $250+ for an autograph.

Defensively he seems a little overrated at this point. His perimeter defense is elite, no question. But he isn't even a perimeter player. He's an undersized 4 who bigger players can routinely outrebound or score over. Defensive rebounding is a pretty vital part of finishing a defensive possession

There's also a whole highlight reel's worth of plays from WVU where Dickinson is trying to guard someone at the 3-point line while KJ is completely alone in the paint. Every time, Dickinson gets torched and KJ is either 1-on-2 and has no chance, or has a bigger guy coming at him that he can't stop anyway.
