If Mexico would have scored and won 3-1, they would have advanced because they would have had more goals scored than Poland.

Complicated as hell.
Goes in order
Goal Differential
Goals Scored
Fair Play

Mexico if they scored once more, would have moved on with more goals scored.

Such a fun afternoon.
Right. Mexico needed a goal either way and would have advanced whether 3-0 or 3-1.

I was confused at first why Mexico seemed so unfazed by the SA goal. Almost like they conceded it.

It was really quite bizarre how they kind of just allowed it to happen. Either that or the backline was just exhausted from constantly being on offense and then having to run back quick.

Tata Martino did not turn out to be a good hire for Mexico.

Spain and Germany win pretty easy today, right?

Belgium/Croatia could be fun. Two older sides going all out. Belgium have to win to advance. Is Canada going to go all out or will Morocco have an easier game than expected.

Should be another fun day!

Just don't think they have much talent at the moment. Lozano is fun to watch and he's by far their best player currently.

But Liga MX is struggling as they might fold and the MLS might take on some of the top clubs. They don't have a lot of young talent. They are losing recruiting battles for dual national players. All their keepers are like 40. Things are not looking good for them.

Mexico fans chief complaint seems to be that too many of their national team mainstays play in Liga MX rather than in Europe. Which is a hurdle the USA is familiar with as well.

I think MLS is right on the verge of surpassing Liga MX, quite possibly already there, in terms of quality.
MLS has won the recent all star games.
They won the latest CONCACAF champions cup.

Financially the MLS is already in a much better spot.

CONCACAF, on the other hand, just took a beating with Mexico and Canada out, and with Costa Rica in a tough spot today.

USA holding the torch.

Lukaku may have had the worst single game of any player in the WC, ever..? 4 easy chances just plain missed.

A lot of names on that Belgium squad were from their highly touted golden generation. Seems like the last gasp for them. I'm sure a couple guys like Batshuayi and De Bruyne will find a way to stick around for 2026 but they're in for a lot of roster turnover in the next cycle.

I tend to root for Germany, but 2 cups in a row is pretty funny.

Loosing to Japan in that warm up game doesn't look quite as bad now.
