Young pascal siakim
Body wise yes. Skillset not really. Siakam can shoot off the dribble. He scores rebounds and gets assists. Flory hasn't shown anything other than blocking shots and rebounding (and catching lobs).

Siakam has been an Allstar iirc. His offense is superior. But similar defensively at least.
Now. YOUNG siakim was like an identical prospect to flory. Long arms, super athletic, quick feet, versatile defender, with a blossoming but limited skillset. Siakim improved at a fast rate, won MIP one year, but entering the league was very raw

His rookie year he averaged 4 pts and 3 rebounds. He was drafted 27th overall. Siakim hadn't shown much skill at that point either. But he had the same body and athleticism as flory, and that's why he got drafted, to develop and grow into his potential

He was also drafted at 22, so older than flory
As a reminder, Pascal Siakam scored 13 points and nearly 8 boards a game as a freshman in 30 mpg and 20 points and almost 12 boards a game his sophomore year in college.

What do you think Flory would be averaging at New Mexico State?

I do think he'd have some huge games at a lesser school. His per 40s are great. In games he played 25+min he'd be a double double threat every time.

New rotation:

Shak: 50 minutes a game
Dajuan: 28
Zeke: 32
Hunter: 30ish
KJ: 28 reluctantly
Bundinga and griffen: 20ish
Coit: maybe 10. Give us a spark
Storr: no thanks. Get it together

I saw something earlier....

If everyone had used their eligibility and everything else stayed the same, our rotation this year could be:

DH, Zeke, Shak, Gradey, Jalen Wilson (somehow?), Furphy, Kj, Hunter, Flory.

I'd be much happier with that.

that'd be rad.

I suppose Jalen was the HS class of 2019, same as Dajuan.

If these newcomers continue to get better and better, is self willing to sit dajuan KJ or hunter in clutch if there's better lineups?

Between shak, zeke, Rylan, bidunga, coit, (storr lol) there is a chance our best lineup by the end of the season might not have all 3 of dajuan KJ and hunter in it

I think he's willing.

I don't think it's realistic to expect that we will be better with DH and/or HD on the bench. Especially "in the clutch".

He's gone with Bidunga "in the clutch" in one game and it cost us. I do think he'll be willing to roll with Bidunga in certain situations over KJ.

The fact is that our best lineup right now is DH Zeke Shak Kj and HD.

I don't think there is any scenario where "in the clutch" we don't want all 3 of DH Zeke and HD in the game. And then sprinkled with some combo of Shak Griffen Bidunga and KJ. Self is willing to go with the hot hand, but he's not going to do shit just to do it.

I think right now I'd definitely want DH Shak and Zeke in the game if it's a close game in crunch time. I don’t think that's going to change. That's our best defensive backcourt. And I think DH and Shak together result in more good shots for our offense even though neither are great shooters. The ball moves better. They're actively trying to get Zeke and HD shots at all times. I like that.

Shaks arrival coincided with the downfall of coit. The threat of losing his minutes might be in his head a little and have him pressing about making shots

Or maybe it's just a coincidental slump

I think it's due to the competition.

Coits biggest games are Howard, Furman, UNCW, and Missouri.

giggle at the notion of these wannabe adult professionals crumbling under the weight of competition for playing time. “Pay me pay me pay me. But I’m too much of a snowflake to compete for my minutes.”

money or no money they are mostly weaklings. especially the professional transfer’ers.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I think coit will be fine. He's missing shots, but he's not taking bad shots or forcing it. I don't think it's the competition level making him miss them, because he's mainly taking open shots within the offense

All that is true. All that being said, however, if he isn't hitting those shots I'd rather get Rylan some more floor time and scale back Coits time a little bit.

I think that is what will eventually happen. Especially in certain matchups

But I think Self wants time keep coit in the rotation. This team struggles offensively sometimes, and coit was the ability to go on a heater and bail us out without some instant offense. I imagine there will still he a game or 2 where this happens
