Would a NY ag be in a position to drop a timely politic zinger?

As the NY AG has jurisdiction of the Trump Organization, Trump Charities, and likely some Trumps, then absolutely. Also state crimes can't be pardoned by the president, so it might be safer to have any investigations going through state right now instead of federal court (SDNY stuff hasn't been talked about much here, but Berman testifying right now). If anything is removed to federal courts, it likely will be after January, and hopefully a new administration will be fair and everyone will have their day in court.

The more I'm thinking about this, and if there are no more challenges available to GJ Subpoenas, then this truly is a bad day for POTUS. Likely the public won't know what's going on for a while.

I don't think the rank and file sycophants have the nuance to dig into what's going on in tax returns. They will brush it off as "good accounting" or "a smart businessman."

Those who have the sophistication likely already have skin in the game, and will downplay in hopes to be overlooked in the future.

There's just not going to be anything tangible that isn't already purposeful loopholes that are going to be the smoking gun. It's just going to be more of what we already know. Somewhat related from yesterday:

If it was just more of the same, he wouldn't let it be an issue this long.

I think the problem for him is that if he didn't commit state tax fraud, he committed state insurance fraud. And vice versa.

I still think it's a red herring to put all the effort into getting these returns, which are likely not fraudulent enough to open up a full investigation. This is then also wasting resources and times while other crimes SoL runs out.

Neither of those things are pardonable.
