got our check, direct deposit and all
really thought ours would be delayed. not that i’m complaining, but it would seem there are many others who could benefit from it (presuming others’ payments are delayed)
best part is the direct deposit...so i don’t have to see dip-shit’s sharpie signature on an actual check
If you truly hate him, send the money back. Put up or shut up.

hating YOUR president =/= hating our country
and my wife and i are actually donating our checks, since we’re both still working and can afford to do so
so, you can fuck right off

I can imagine a lot of folks will be sending their money back, considering how much they hate socialism.

Good for you. I commend you for doing something altruistic with the money.
Oh, and excellent ethical gymnastics as well.

That's the point. They truly don't even understand what actual socialism is if they are screaming about it out one side of their face while cashing this check out the other side.

Yup. Whatever I end up with will be going to a fund my college has set up for our hourly employees who have been laid off or had their hours cut. I'm not missing any meals or worrying about ending up on the street right now, so I will be paying mine forward.

I don't know to post this so I'll just post it in here. Our Fed has printed over 7 trillion dollars this year, which obviously an insane amount. Some speculate that other countries will want to eventually stop using the dollar as a reserve currently. While that may be unlikely to happen in the short term, massive inflation and possibly hyperinflation is on the way. We're all going to have to pay a price for all this quantitative easing, and it's going to (eventually) show up when you go to the grocery store. However, since we're in a severe recession right now, prices may not rise for a while due to more people saving money.

Fuck that, I can already hit $200 at the grocery store pretty easily without buying meat or alcohol. It feels like the prices hits have already arrived at the store. No sense for a grocer to not capitalize on the increased business.

True. I've noticed it as well. Just imagine how much higher it could go if inflation gets worse, which it likely will. It is truly insane the amount of QE our government is doing just to try to prevent something that is natural. Recessions happen and things would eventually recover on their own. This idea that we can prop things up until the next election is going to devalue our dollar.

The word socialism gets thrown around and misapplied far too often.

And as far as grocery prices going way up iirc someone here debunked that about 6months ago.....although it is reasonable to think covid19 has had at least some impact on grocery prices.

inflation rates are decreasing during the pandemic. I think that's mostly because of decreased demand on oil leading to lower gas prices, etc. But if grocery store prices went up, it wasn't enough to offset other things. I think the inflation rate in May was 0.1% and prior to the pandemic it was hovering around 2%.
We'll see what happens later, but right now we're more at risk of deflation.

We may see deflation last for a while. Inflation may not really become a problem for years to come. I'm telling all my friends not to buy anything expensive until 2021. Homes, cars, etc. are going to come down significantly in 2021-2022.

I'm saving all the money I got from hoarding N95 masks, and then price gouging the hospital I sold them to for the purchase of a new tow truck. But I'm going to wait until at least 2021 to do so.

Here's what I think will happen. Inventory is "low" for now, and will remain so through the summer. 50+ million unemployed means foreclosures are going to start coming on the market in October/November (after the forbearance ends). Many more foreclosures will hit the market in May/June 2021. By fall of 2021, homes prices will be dramatically down in the cyclical markets (the expensive markets). In addition, you're going to see a lot of boomers try to sell off their mansions in 2021, which is going to be interesting considering most millennials will not have the money or the desire for them. In addition, there's also a ton of AirBnB rentals that will not be able to stay in business. Also, we might see more people leaving the urban areas for the suburbs and rural areas given that some people can work remotely. On top of it, the bubble was re-inflated to levels of 2006. It's 99% certainty home prices will plunge by 2022, but again, in the cyclical markets. I've talked out a few people from buying a home right now -- you're buying at the top of the market this summer.

I don't disagree with that. It is disturbing. But equally as disturbing, are our news outlets (MSNBC, Yahoo, ABC, etc.) trying to ignite riots and destabilize the country by creating a systemic racism narrative. It's a disturbing time we are living in and that's why I can't call myself a democrat or republican.
