You didn't really miss anything. While Ant Ed and the Jayhawks players are shown in the video, the real winner here is Adidas.
The unfortunate thing for the people who like the shoe is that they can't buy that exact shoe - being that it's a PE (Player Edition/Exclusive) and very few are released to the "public".

I'm very rarely hoopin, and typically once or twice a day I'm poopin, so if I owned a pair there would be a a much better chance that I would wear them while poopin than hoopin.

The "what are these - Japanese brand" are shoes that I own. They are the Nike Jun Takahashi Undercover Overbreaks. One of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Almost too comfortable.
I have a pair of white and black ones. I would send him mine but my white ones are about in the same shape and I admit I actually do like the black ones.

Poor guy, that's got to hurt, and not only monetarily.

I wonder if the guy owned the house. If not, then maybe his shoes was/were his greatest worry?
I have other valuable things in my apartment but as a whole, I would probably put my shoes near (NOT AT) the top of what I would be upset about being destroyed.

On a related note, it's mostly been shoe related accounts on social media that have been posting the guy's video.
