I'm assuming the "padding" he's referencing is where if say...a patient is in hospice and is given 2 weeks to live, but then tests positive for covid19 and dies then it's counted as a covid19 death? Essentially that the numbers show number of people who died WITH covid19 rather than just those who died OF covid19?
I've said it before and I'll probably say it again.
Did the people who had COVID-19 - and died - die before they had COVID-19?
It's not an unreasonable thing to point out there is a difference between WITH and OF but the people HAD COVID-19 - and died.
So would it appease you if the death toll "score" stated COVID-19 RELATED deaths?
We can minimize or maximize the death toll all we want based on our "agendas". I really don't give a fuck if the number is being minimized or maximized.
I know it exists and a lot of people are dying WITH it - if not OF it. That's bad enough for me.

and the argument can be made that if these numbers are padded to a fault, that it’s likely true with all, or nearly all, other pandemics as well
it’s not like this would be something new, not accounting for the pathogen alone when there are other factors that “might” have been at play

Just to clarify, I don't care if the number is being maximized or minimized based on how they're coding the deaths. I agree with everything you said.
....but I do think it's silly that 1 of our state officials said that even if it's clear that the person died from a different cause, they're still added to the toll if they are positive for covid19....even say, if they die in a car accident on the way home after being released from the hospital for covid19 but not yet testing negative.... (but regardless, this number of instances is incredibly low, and largely irrelevant.....but like you said..."agendas" and such.

I'm not smart enough to know what Doctors are told to put on death certificates when someone was COVID-19 "positive" so I am not going to try and break down why the number of deaths is being defined how it is.
If I wanted to get philosophical I might ask why are the people who say the number of deaths is inflated not saying that the number of "cases" is also very misleading?

No argument here. I agree with everything gutter said in both of his post to me. (I didn't respond to his last because I don't want to be accused as arguing with him when I agree with his statement(s))
For most areas I think everyone should stay home as much as possible for another month or 2 so that the amount of cases is low enough/so low, and/that testing is available enough, that it is possible/realistic to do meaningful contact tracing. Then you slowly open things up safely, but life has to change at least a little bit until a vaccine is available or this is gone.

Let's just say that anyone who agrees with Dinesh D'Souza on this or any other matter, deserves to be posting on this thread.

I remember when I used to confuse Dinesh D'Souza and Deepak Chopra for one another.
Who knew that would wind be an incredible insult to Chopra?
