"And I knew after the second press conference that there was a cover-up"
Pretty good 4:40 video about the town. Former prosecutor.

There’s awful rumors that maybe at least one of the kids were actually shot by cops

But as far as I can tell, that’s based on little more than cops reporting (without anyone asking) shortly after that they “believe” every kid was shot by the assailant.

That, and just the general way cops are being shitheads and trying to cover shit up now.

If so, I dunno even what to think.

It’s crazy that if and when bodycams and shit are finally made public, it BEST CASE shows cops being incompetent pussies.

It’ll be interesting to see how they try to reconcile the “we thought it was not an active shooter but a barricaded suspect” with the fact there’s kids continuing to call
911, continuing to yell yeah we need help, continuing to hear shots, etc.

Man, this shit sucks

Body camera footage for this has absolutely no business being released to the public.

I wish it was just incompetent cowards but it’s likely worse.

This is the only reason why body camera exists. It’s what keeps the corrupt and incompetent less corrupt and less incompetent. It’s a feature not a bug

Back the Blue people don't like cops to be held accountable.

They can be held accountable by it being viewed by the appropriate authorities. It doesn't need to be played on CNN over and over to push political agendas/narratives.

I think we'd by wise as a society to stop putting so much stuff (murders in particular) out for entertainment style consumption.

I don't think children being murdered should be consumed for entertainment purposes by the general public. There are appropriate parties that can view the footage and determine any wrongdoing. Those parents don't deserve to have their children being murdered broadcast on TV and used for clicks online.

You can think my opinion is dumb, but that's how I feel.

Fair point. I suppose it will mostly be cops standing in a hallway and getting kids from the other classes out of the building. In which case I guess I wouldn't have any problem with it being shown.

But there are 0 reasons why images of dead kids should be played on TV. That does none of us any good.

This. Sometimes, public outrage is legit, and needed.

Oh, of course. We all know full well that the appropriate authorities are never corrupt and we can always count on them to never cover up any wrongdoing. How wrong of me not having the ultimate trust in the chain of command.

Nobody is saying back the blue except you.

Take your meds. Find some happiness. Even if it's mostly chemically induced.

is this “the appropriate authorities”?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... -has-plan/

When thoughts and prayers seem inadequate in the wake of a tragedy, you can always blame God for what happened.

That would seem to be how Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) sees it after a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Tex., took the lives of 19 children and two of their teachers.

In a podcast interview recorded the day after the May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School and unearthed last week by Salon, Paxton was asked by North Texas pastor Trey Graham what he might say to the victims’ families.
“I’d have to say, look, there’s always a plan. I believe God always has a plan,” the attorney general replied. “Life is short no matter what it is.”

Graham also pressed Paxton on why mass shootings happen more often in Texas than in other states. (The Dallas Morning News notes that Texas leads the nation in the number of people killed in mass shootings since 2009, and is second only to Nevada in the number killed in a single episode.) “Part of it is we’re just a big state,” Paxton replied. It might just come down to “the law of averages,” he said, adding, “Other than that, I don’t really have an explanation.”

In the meantime, the intensity of emotion surrounding what happened in Uvalde may already be dying down. The last of the funerals, that of 11-year-old Layla Salazar, took place on Thursday. Television networks that swarmed the town have largely moved on. While a special committee of the Texas legislature is investigating what happened — and didn’t — in Uvalde, and has been charged with making recommendations for the future, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has resisted Democratic calls for a special session.

In Washington, the Senate left town Thursday for the weekend after bogging down over a bipartisan deal that aims to produce the first major expansion of gun laws in three decades. Their framework agreement was announced with great fanfare the weekend before, but fleshing out the details into actual legislative language that can clear the 60-vote threshold needed to pass the 50-50 Senate is turning out to be a difficult challenge...

Cops with rifles and tactical shields were too scared to confront the guy but yeah, let's give some teachers a pistol and assume that will fix the problem.
